Leaker claims Switch 2 will feature ray tracing reconstruction, DLSS 3.5, plus 2 models at launch

Nintendo switch (oled model)

Known leaker NateTheHate is back with some more interesting Nintendo Switch 2 rumors. It is hard to discern how reliable his sources are. Speaking in a new YouTube video, he goes on to say that the Switch 2 will feature the following: some form of ray tracing reconstruction, and that it will have support for the image upscaling solution DLSS 3. He also mentioned that the Switch 2 will come in two different models, possibly one which supports physical and digital games, and a second which would be a cheaper digital-only model. Both Microsoft and Sony have done the same with the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles to bring pricing down, so it is not out of the realm of possibility. Nintendo has yet to comment on its enviable successor to the now-aging Nintendo Switch family of systems.

    1. You mean the feature that barely changes anything and is making current games even more expensive because of that? Wow, such a next-gen feature.

        1. Most PS5 games with ray tracing have been half arsed attempts! But the new Spiderman 2 game on the PS5 is well implemented ray tracing.

Nvidia DSSL AI ray tracing reconstruction will enable Switch 2 games to have very good ray tracing. If the developer’s put the effort in!

Nintendo and big third partys certainly will…

        2. It’s mostly due to the fact that devs only use like one or two bits of RT instead of the whole suite. Common ones being Reflections or Shadows and sometimes Lighting; And its really only select bits like with Shadows, they often only use it for dynamic soft shadows. Which not many ppl are gonna notice. Reflections are more noticeable and is the one they often use the most. (But they typically dial it way down to only one reflect bounce and use lower poly models in said reflections) Lighting can vary since most of the time they only selectively replace certain existing lighting tech, instead of the whole thing.

RT usage is still in its early stages but there is select games that use all of them, like CP2077.
OR select games tht instead use Path Tracing, which is ALOT more expensive but completely replaces EVERYTHING when it comes to Reflections, Lighting and Shadows. (Games like Minecraft, Portal 1 or even CP2077; Since the latter game has both full RT and “experimental” PT options)

So honestly see next gen consoles try to transition into full RT suites and select games goin full PT.

      1. There is several PC games where ray tracing takes the graphics to the next level!

PS5 games have yet to use ray tracing fully to it’s ability.

Though the new Spiderman 2 on the PS5 changes that!

      2. Literally neither of those claims is true. Ray tracing can make a huge difference on games, depending on their art style. And since it’s now banned right into the hardware, there’s little performance penalty. As for cost, it adds very little, as it’s a standard feature of pretty much all modern GPU’s.

  1. I don’t believe it… dlss 3.5 stipulates an RTX 40xx but no Nvidia soc uses this chip so it would have had to be developed, which means a higher price..
The only other possibility is that Nvidia no longer uses a soc or Nintendo abandons the switch concept
As for ray tracing, it’s clear that it’s just a gimmick…

    1. Nintendo abandoning the Switch/Hybrid concept is even more stupid/unbelievable. If you peek at Xbox/Playstation players, they begged Sony and Microsoft to release some kind of portable/hybrid consoles of their own. Admit it, Nintendo struck gold with the Switch Hybrid concept.

      1. We said the same thing about the Wii… You forget that the switch concept no longer surprises anyone and it is starting to be taken up by other competitors… Nintendo can’t be satisfied with a simple technical update for its next machine, so either it adds something, but they take the risk of seeing the wii u syndrome reappear, or it changes everything completely

        1. Wii U was not a simple “Wii 2” though. The Wii U Gamepad overcomplicate stuff way more compared to the relatively simple Wii. In fact, most people wished that Nintendo to just release “Wii HD” a more powerful Wii and not what we ended up with (Wii U). I’m confident the Switch core Hybrid concept will stay even if there are some added gimmicks. Also, what competitor? Steam Deck is NOT a direct competitor to the Switch. Not by number of unit sold or by market share. Playstation and Xbox also don’t have any hybrid or portable (They’re direct competitors to Nintendo). So… what competitors?

          1. I never said that the wii u was a wii 2 but a lot of (idiotic) people believed it, how many times have I not heard in the store that the gamepad was the wii u and could therefore be combined with the wii… Given its failure, I doubt Nintendo will take such a risk. As for the competition, whether you like it or not, the steam deck is one of them even if its market share is modest, moreover how many here dream of seeing Nintendo games on steam while they act as a competitor to the game ?!
As for the competition, Sony is planning a similar concept to the Switch and other players in the market (admittedly less important) are doing the same, a simple technical evolution of the Switch will not be enough in the long run, moreover Nintendo has never made a simple technical evolution between each console (at least for 20 years), it has always had an addition/removal so…

            1. Sony can plan their “Switch” all they want but as long as it’s not released to the market its worthless. Well, in Sony’s case it’s even worse than worthless since their recently announced “Playstation Portal” is pure garbage. Anyway my argument from the start is that Nintendo will keep the Hybrid/Portable nature of the Switch with their Next-gen console. Nintendo can of course add another gimmick on top of being a hybrid, but being a hybrid is paramount no matter what. Also Nintendo games won’t come to Steam lol. Steam players can dream all they want but as long as Nintendo’s consoles sells, their 1st party games will remain exclusive to Nintendo console.

            2. Sony isn’t planning a competitive for switch. It’s releasing PlayStation Portal, which requires a PS5 on the same Wi-Fi network. Effectively, it’s more akin to Wii U than switch. PlayStation portal isn’t a game console, it’s just a tablet screen with a controller bolted on.

    2. Ray tracing isn’t a gimmick lmfao. You clearly haven’t played any PC games with ray tracing implemented properly. Or Spiderman 2 on the PS5 with excellent ray tracing!

Ps. the Switch 2 will be capable of DSSL 3.5, Nvidia GPU/CPU will be modified have custom features just for the Switch 2.

    3. DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction works on all GeForce RTX-class GPUs (20-series, 30-series and 40-series). DLSS 3 Frame Generation only works on RTX 40-series (if this is confusing, yes I agree lol). This gives a bit of legitimacy to the rumor of am Ampere-based GPU (RTX 30-series) in the Switch 2, as that would support DLSS 2 Super Resolution, DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction, but not DLSS 3 FG, all of which is being report on right now.

    4. RT is a reality. Not a gimmick. Lol. AMD is the problem on consoles. They are way behind NVIDIA on nearly everything. I’d rather have choice of hardware on consoles. But we are stuck with AMD fsr blah graphics. That’s the only reason people even get 60fps. And they think it looks good.

    5. It actually doesn’t, nvidia is just horrible at explaining it.

Dlss 3.5 can be used all the way back to turing.

It’s only one feature, Frame generation, that currently requires Ada cards, because of the improved ada ofa which is 2.5-3x more powerful than amperes.

  2. The Man Who Taunts Fear

The “two systems, one is digital only” rumour seems inevitable given how strongly it has circulated, and from how many sources. Which is bizarre – surely it costs next to nothing for a system to have a cartridge slot added in its hardware? Perhaps the Switch 2 doesn’t use the regular game cards as used by the current Switch?

  3. Actual leaker here, screenshot this and in the future you can say, “oh my god, they were right!”

The next Nintendo game system will be have the ability to play video games, as well as a wireless controller.
