Early footage of Super Mario 64 having multiplayer discovered

art-work for the 1996 release of Super Mario 64

Footage has finally emerged of the early in-development multiplayer mode in the iconic Super Mario 64, which never saw the light of day. The new footage, which has been uploaded to the social media platform X, aligns with how Shigeru Miyamoto described it in an interview which was published back in 1996. As you can see from the video, both Mario and Luigi are seen running around a concept level. Check it out below.

    1. Kinda how I felt, lol. Still cool to see anything at all, but I wish it would have been more than what I could already imagine

  1. One thing’s for sure, that’s the Luigi from the gigaleak. When the gigaleak was recent, I managed to find that some information like the HD items in Ocarina of Time were actually from the 3DS version in 2013. The gigaleak seemed to be partially hoaxed in this case, but I haven’t done further investigation since.

  2. Considering the persistent false rumors about Luigi being hidden somewhere in SM64 that were circulating for years prior to the gigaleak, it’s wild that this footage has existed for so long and somehow managed to fly competely underneath everyone’s radar until now
