Speculation about Nintendo’s successor to the incredibly popular Nintendo Switch is at fever pitch at the moment. Today, a Brazilian journalist for O X do Controle, has stated that he has heard from five different sources around the globe that Nintendo’s Switch 2 system isn’t launching until 2025. Nintendo has yet to acknowledge the successor to the Nintendo Switch, but if this news it legitimate then fans will have to wait a little longer than the presumed end of year release. We will have to wait and see what transpires.

Yeah I can see that right now that Nintendo is trying to be fully prepared even so they are being quiet about the successor and no mention from them has been made yet.

Um, I feel like it’s VERY IMPORTANT to note here that this is a Brazilian journalist. So, presumably, he is talking about the BRAZILIAN launch. And yeah there is no way Switch 2 is launching in Brazil this year, because no Nintendo console has ever launched in that way. Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft launch in North America, Japan and EU/UK first. Then, some months or even a year later, they launch in a staggered fashion in South America/Africa/other Asian countries. If Switch 2 releases in NA/Japan/Europe in Summer or Fall 2024, then Brazil was always going to be in the 2025 calendar year.
Nope, I’m pretty sure he’s talking about worldwide release. Brazilian Nintendo isnt that strong here so when some product delays to be released here, its easy (but expansive) for us to buy import products from US, so when it releases there, we count as if it was already released here.

This could turn out to be a slow year, if true. On the Nintendo Switch Discord where it has a channel for speculation/leaks/rumors, there was a pinned comment, and it says at least three sources (VGC, Eurogamer, and now phluttilippe which is on this page) are claiming there was an internal delay until Q1 2025. If that’s the case, I don’t expect an announcement referring to Switch 2 this year. December could be the earliest, but it would be unlikely.
