One thing that Nintendo has been doing for a long while now is releasing new profile pictures, backgrounds, and borders that Nintendo Switch Online members can get using gold coins that they can earn. These rewards are usually themed around various games, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Strikers: Battle League and The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.
Well, some more icons are now available, but these may surprise you. There are now icons available for EarthBound Beginnings. EarthBound and EarthBound Beginnings originally came to Nintendo Switch Online a couple of years ago. However, the new icons just so happened to appear on the same day that Nintendo announced that Mother 3 was coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack in Japan. Despite the awkward timing, the icons will be available until February 28th. You can see a tweet relaying the news down below.

Man, how far will Nintendo go to prove they will never listen to their audience? They will always do the polar opposite just to prove they don’t have to take constructive criticism? I feel if they listened once and a while in some cases like this one, they’d make a lot more money by releasing things we want and by being consumer friendly.
Same thing goes for fan games. These are people expressing their love for a franchise and its free advertising for Nintendo’s upcoming games. It could also be used for inspiration for a future title or maybe hire someone that makes these kinds of games. No, instead they would rather burn the person alive by burring them in so much debt that it ruins their lives and makes it impossible to tunnel their way out. Literal bullies.
I mean I love their games, but damn they’re ruthless at times too.

I want more Earthbound games as much as the next guy but c’mon now… this isn’t some troll or anything even remotely offensive.

This years marks the 30th anniversary of Earthbound (Mother 2) release date. There was even this tweet on the official Mother twitter saying there would be multiple cellebrations this year, so this one and Mother 3 on NSO are also part of them.
Can I get an icon, from that non Ness Earthbound Character from Super Smash bros Brawl, Wii u/3ds, and Ultimate, but in pixel form. Maybe do it alongside a game coming out on the NSO expansion pass, that would be neat :)
