TimeSplitters boss says cancellation was a “big letdown” & is likely done with series

Games Industry has published an insightful interview with Steve Ellis, the two times founder of Free Radical Design, going through the history of the franchise and talking about the reboot which was canceled. If you are a Timesplitters fan then you will want to read the full thing. Elis concluded the article/interview by saying that it is most likely the end of his involvement in the long-running franchise after the bitter disappointment which followed its abrupt cancelation. Here’s what he said:

“It’s probably the end of me being involved with TimeSplitters,” he concludes. “I don’t know if Plaion or Embracer will do anything with it. I don’t know what it would take to get me to want to go through all that again. It was a big letdown.”

  1. Man, aside from it’s wonky physics, TimeSplitter would’ve done great in this climate. I still remember all those Virus games, team death matches, escort, capture the flag, Flame Tags and Monkey assist matches. So much freaking fun. And then the Map creator with Exploding RC cars. I freaking miss these games.
