Midori: Monolith Soft project codenamed “Legacy” reportedly in development

Notable leaker Midori, whose track record is near spotless, says that she was informed a few months back that Monolith Soft’s next project with Nintendo is codenamed Legacy. The game could well be a follow up to  2022’s well-received Xenoblade Chronicles 3, or a brand new project entirely. Perhaps we will learn more about the game at the next Nintendo Direct presentation, which is scheduled to take place next month.

  1. Xenoblade Chronicles 4 would be amazing (haven’t started 3 yet but I have it, super excited to, so this still sounds awesome)

But I could also maybe see this being an X remake? I wonder if they’d do that over just porting it…

    1. Unlikely that they will release a remake of the X on Switch, it takes up more space than a cartridge can hold. Unless they make a part cartridge and a part mandatory download or 100% dematerialized

Otherwise I like the “I was told”, this “I was told” talks way too much…. In short, as always, I am very skeptical about this “information”

      1. The cartridge size isn’t the issue. The game is only about 20GB or so, and would easily fit on a 32GB cartridge. The real reason it won’t make it to the Switch is that it’s supposedly too hard/time-consuming to port it (paraphrasing what the devs said). But you never know, that was years ago so we could see it on the Switch or maybe Switch2.

  2. Given the name “Legacy” and the lore dump at the end of Future Redeemed, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a remake or something of the Xenosaga games

    1. Remasters/remakes of Xenosaga AND Xenogears. I’ve always felt Ninty should buy the rights to them from Bandai Namco & Sony, and give them back to Monolith Soft.

I wanted the same with Baten Kaitos but the remaster from BN killed that hope. Least for now, anyway. It could still possibly happen years later from now.

  3. Either way it seems most likely we wont see this game even announced until the switch 2 is. As it seems kinda dumb they would spend all this time for another switch 1 release. Most likely it will b 1 of the launch titles for swtch2
