Google employee leaked private videos from Nintendo’s YouTube channel

It has emerged today that an unnamed Google employee who was able to access to private YouTube videos leaked Nintendo games ahead of their official reveals. The report from 404 Media says that the Google employee “accessed private videos in Nintendo’s YouTube account, and leaked information ahead of Nintendo’s planned announcements.” Though strangely an internal investigation conducted by Google found that the supposed breach of privacy was actually “non-intentional.”

  1. I personally prefer to be surprised on new game announcements during live Nintendo Directs instead of random leaks.

  2. Guess I’ll have to be careful about leaks for a couple weeks. Thanks for the non-spoilery heads up

  3. This really sucks, not so much for the game leaks, but for all the kind of information that Google has been collecting. I always knew that they did, but I always figured it was iP addresses and search information to target marketing, but children voices, what the actual F do they need that for?

  4. Important thing to clarify, this was about the era between 2013-2018 and the leaks that came out during that time (some speculating PracticalBrush) not saying there’s not things being leaked via similar ways today, but this isn’t saying a mass breach with a bunch of things being revealed early soon is happening…as far as we are aware.

  5. Great news! I heard about the leak and thought it was wild. As a Nintendo fan since childhood, private prototype footage always felt off-limits, so seeing those behind-the-scenes clips was a shock. I clicked through to some google reviews while waiting for official statements—I wanted context on corporate culture but found more chatter about General Motors than Google itself. Fun fact: I once built a mini cardboard NES for a school project and spent hours polishing pixel art sprites. I’ll wait for Nintendo’s response, but I’m hopeful they’ll tighten security and keep our favorite secrets safe. Stay tuned, everyone, excitedly.
