Now that Summer Game Fest Play Days is underway, it is time for attendees to play the games available and for developers to participate in interviews. For example, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka was interviewed by IGN earlier today to discuss Sonic X Shadow Generations. There was only a handful of questions asked, but one of them was in regards to future remasters of Sonic the Hedgehog games.
Iizuka said that, following the release of Sonic Colors Ultimate, “we kind of wanted to think about what we could bring next as a remastered title. At that time, Sonic Generations was kind of what everyone was really excited (about), what they really wanted, and was really hungry for. That’s why we chose to do Sonic Generations and we added the Shadow Generations portion”.
However, that isn’t all he had to say. Iizuka concluded by saying that “depending on what people like out there, if there’s a title people like, we’ll think about it for the next remaster”. There was not a title specifically mentioned, but IGN’s live crowd was very vocal about seeing Sonic Unleashed getting remastered next. You can see video of the interview in full down below.

Adventure 1 & 2 would be great, but my favorite will always be Heroes
Plus the game suffered from janky control (characters randomly sliding, missing rails…), and isn’t available to buy on PC anymore

We NEED an OFFICIAL remake/remaster of Sonic 06, PROJECT 06 AND LEGACY OF SOLARIS DO NOT COUNT!!! It would also be funny to see Sonic 06 get remade and then all that time gets wasted on Project 06 for NOTHING!! LMFAOOOOO!!! I don’t give a fuck about the world’s opinion… I like Sonic 06 and I even did a full playthrough of it on my live stream which was more fun and hype than I expected it to be. One other thing to all the haters… STOP BITCHING ABOUT THE KISS!!! I like that cutscene too along with the game in general.
