  • The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: It’s up to Zelda and her wisdom to save the kingdom of Hyrule in a brand-new story in The Legend of Zelda series. The people of Hyrule are being stolen away by strange rifts that have appeared, with a certain swordsman among the missing. Then recreate those echoes whenever you like to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Use echoes of water blocks to reach new heights, make bridges out of old beds, throw rocks at foes – or find your own creative combination of echoes to do things your way. You can even create echoes of monsters to fight at your side in combat. Join Zelda in her quest to rescue Hyrule when The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches for Nintendo Switch on Sept. 26.
  • Additionally, a gold-colored Nintendo Switch Lite Hyrule Edition system adorned with the Hylian Crest and inspired by the Legend of Zelda series arrives on Sept. 26 as well. 1. This was a good one, M&L: Brothership, MvC collection & AA Investigations collection were the highlights for me.

  2. I’m not going to lie: I would give this Nintendo direct a solid 7 out of 10 😎

My personal Top 4 announcements were:
    4. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
    3. The Hundred Line
    2. Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
    1. Mario and Luigi Brothership

  3. I thought Mario and Luigi was dead with Alphadream. Not only are we getting a new game, it looks like they’ve done a great job of transitioning it to full 3D.

And the Zelda game looks great. They’ve done a great job of highlighting the “wisdom” aspect with this new type of gameplay. It really gives a lot of BOTW/TOTK energy.

    No Fzero though so 0/10

      1. I have Zero Mission on Wii U and an actual physical copy. I replayed it within the last year and… I didn’t really enjoy it as much :/

        1. Ah, dang. Zero Mission was one of my favorites as it remade the original NES game with “modern” game design (modern for the GBA anyway, which is a style I enjoy).

It’s no Super Metroid, but with how short of a game it was I enjoyed replaying it every now and then.

          1. I was replaying every single 2D Metroid so maybe that played a factor. I played Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion right before Zero Mission. I definitely liked what it did but sometimes the map felt a little frustrating. It’s hard to articulate but it’s the same frustration I got when playing the Zelda Oracle games.

            1. Oh I think I get it. When I played Oracle of Seasons I knew I was making progress but at the same time always felt lost. I couldn’t tangibly understand how I made progress and only knew I was because I got a new item or something else happened.
Was it kinda like that for you with Zero Mission?

              1. It was more about the map/level design. I feel like I was trying to go in a certain direction and kept hitting inconvenient walls that I had to go around (a lot).

  4. Good direct, really happy for Mario and Luigi, bit disappointed with that lazy ass country returns port, overall it was a nice stream

  5. Mario & Luigi: Brothership and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom look solid and Metroid Prime 4 looks glorious. And of course, I cannot forget about Dragon Quest!

  6. It looks good for the next year, but where is my Xenoblade Chronicles X? Everyone was saying that it was coming.

  7. I think this is one of the best directs ever? Not every game was for me but I’m sure others got hyped for. How long have people been asking to play as Zelda and she is getting her own game, a very interesting game too, hyped for that one. And closed out with a first look at MP4?! DK in the house, biggest Mario Party ever, new Mario and Luigi with a cool style. This will be one to remeber.

  8. This Direct I’m happy with, what did people expect the Switch life is about to drift. And I’m actually shocked Zelda game is all new, nothing remade like the past few. At least Switch is getting games in 2024, where are the competitors games this year oh wait they shut the door.

  9. Is it just me, or did it seem like half of the games shown off were JRPGs or RPGs? The Direct felt bloated with them.

All I ended up caring about were Zelda, Mario Party, Prime 4, and finally getting an official English version of Ace Attorney Investigations 2.

And I’m always disappointed with the lack of any F-Zero news.

-“But we got F-Zero 99 last year!”

Yes, but I mean a new F-Zero, or the long-rumored remaster of GX.

  10. It was okay. A new LoZelda game is almost always (99%) nice. Finally getting Metroid Zero Mission. Finally getting Perfect Dark. (I have a score to settle with that one. I was at the final boss in the N64 days, but I just couldn’t beat the damn queen. “My powers have doubled since the last time we met, Queen!” (Anakin in RotS reference.) Now we got all the Donkey Kong Country games on Switch, so yay to that! Super Mario Party Jamboree had me excited, too. I like seeing old boards getting remakes. I don’t know if the other Mario Party game on Switch did the same, though.

Now my negatives. No Metroid Prime 2 remaster. I swear. If those morons stop at just the first Prime, I’m gonna be pissed. I’ll be more excited for Metroid Prime 4 when we got an actual release date. (Hopefully they’re saving it for after they announce the next console because Beyond’s release date is tied to it. (A new console from Nintendo with a Metroid title as an initial release game is a sign they’re treating the franchise as one of their biggest franchises alongside Mario & Zelda.) Anyway, hopefully they’re saving Echoes for later in the year. With some of these 3DS remasters for Switch, hopefully Samus Returns is getting an HD release at some point, too. It’s a negative that could be redeemed with a later Nintendo Direct, so I won’t hold it against them TOO much. Four Swords is marred by the fact it’s just another straight up emulation, so no 4 player play unless you got 4 Switches. (Quit doing straight up emulation, Ninty. It fricking SUCK6 for games like Four Swords & Golden Sun. (Gonna have to fight with the damn 6 or 7 page password again for GS2. Thx alot, dumbasses. Hopefully HD remasters of Golden Sun will be a thing one day. It’d be a nice way to finally do what they couldn’t on the GBA: have both games be one, single game. I’m pretty sure I remember them mentioning they wanted to make one single game but couldn’t because of the Advance’s limitations. shrug)

Special mention is that Hobbit life simulator game. Finally something good related to Middle Earth for the first time since 2017’s Shadow of War. (Aside from the War of the Rohirrim, of course, that finally has some screenshots.)

  11. I know I’m super-late at this point, but:
