30 minutes of Dragon Quest III HD-2D gameplay & new details

A number of Japanese media outlets including Famitsu have gone hands-on with the long-awaited Dragon Quest III HD-2D and the game is looking wonderful. Famitsu uploaded thirty minutes of gameplay footage which you can watch down below which shows just how much effort has gone into the Dragon Quest III remake, along with its quality of life changes, which will impress fans and newcomers alike. Dragon Quest III HD-2D launches on Nintendo Switch and other platforms on 14th November.

Details:

  • Made many improvements for modern players while staying true to the original
  • Additional story elements supervised by Yuji Horii
  • The Protagonist will have 2 appearances: “Appearance A” and “Appearance B”
  • Towns appear like miniatures in the overworld – Monsters appear in towns
  • Amount of villagers in towns is increased with new conversations
  • Overworld changes from day to night as in-game time passes
  • New glowing points in the environment to get items from
  • New environmental sounds
  • Random encounters
  • New combat Abilities
  • 3 difficulty settings
  • Battle speed can be adjusted with shoulder buttons
  • Auto saves
  • 9 slots for manual saves
  • Last 30 conversations are saved in the menu
  • 2 camera distances: normal and close-up
  • Mini-map can be toggled on or off
  • 2 graphics modes on console: Framerate (60fps) or Graphics (4K)
  • 4K resolution on PS5, Xbox and PC
