Nine Sols, a 2D indie Souls-like that combines Taoism and cyberpunk has now been rated in Taiwan for Switch and other consoles. Released on PC in May earlier this year, it is Red Candle Games’ most recent game and a departure from their previous works- the psychological horror duo of Detention and Devotion.
Gematsu broke the news in an X post recently:
With hand-drawn art, Metroidvania exploration, and a deflection-based combat style inspired by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Nine Sols received “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam, making it a worthy add to any console Souls-like or indie collection.
It follows Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus from earlier this year, which was another game with Metroidvania elements that was inspired by Asian beliefs and tradition.
While Nine Sols being rated doesn’t outright guarantee its release, it certainly points to it, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more. Readers can meanwhile take a look at its release trailer from May below:

Oh cool. I’ve heard good things about this game. It’s the studio’s take on a Metroidvania, but it’s not like Metroid or Hollow Knight. It came out recently on PC, but this is the first we’ve heard for consoles afaik.
Definitely gonna keep an eye for it
From what I hear, if Hollow Knight is Dark Souls, then Nine Sols is Sekiro.
