One of the big animated sequels, the long-awaited Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, will be packed full of easter eggs for fans to spot once the movie releases in 2026. The delightful news comes courtesy of the voice behind the beloved Toad in the movie, voice actor Keegan Michael-Key. He states that the movie will be larger in scope, compared to its predecessor, which was 2023’s second-highest grossing movie. Here’s what Mr. Michael-Key had to say about Super Mario Bros. Movie 2.
“One thing I can say about the second movie is that it’s a little broader in scope, and where it takes place is very intriguing lore and the Mario world. They’re going to find some really fantastic Easter eggs and it’s been very exciting so far.”
“I feel like what they’ve done creatively is they’ve really widened out the universe that these characters live in and we’re going to meet some new folks. We’re going to meet some new folks that are old favorites and some folks that I think are really deep cuts, but because of the way the story’s laying itself out right now, those characters are going to be very intriguing.”

Pipe dream but I would love for them reference that their are other dimensions out that at least hinting that paper Mario exist in some kind of format, hoping to see Daisy, Rosalina and wario and waluigi as the old favorite

We know that Yoshi & Wario are gonna be in that movie soon. Hopefully Danny Devito will voice Wario in that movie. I also have a feeling that the Koopalings are gonna be in that movie as well & hopefully they’ll pick my picks to see who would voice them in that movie.
