Monolith Soft‘s COO Tetsuya Takahashi and lead programmer Michihiko Inaba have taken part in an interview to discuss how they are currently scaling up the company due to the success of the much loved Xenoblade franchise. One of the things mentioned in the interview is that the Japanese company is hard at work developing their own in house game engine which will power future titles from the studio. The game engine is built upon the company’s existing engine, which it created back in 2010, which has powered earlier entries in the Xenoblade Chronicles series. This new R&D initiative will help the company streamline their development processes and help reduce man-hours using new tech.
“For the kind of games we are currently developing, we do not have the option of using third-party game engines. In-house engines are easier to customize to meet our needs.”

Switch 2 Xenoblade is about to look crazy
Xenoblade X2, please and thank you.
If you take into account Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition for Switch, it is possible that they will release a definitive edition of Xenoblade Chronicles X for the next Switch. A XCX2 would be cool too.
Xenoblade 4 will look great on Switch 2.
I need x on switch, wii u pads keep losing signal
This is why Monolith Soft excels in there games.
I am there day one for anything they put out. My favorite dev right now.
One day, it won’t be about who has the better console but who has the better game engine.
