SEGA partnering with Universal Pictures for live-action Shinobi movie

The Shinobi game series will be getting a live-action movie from SEGA and Universal Pictures, with Sam Hargrave (Extraction) as director and Ken Kobayashi (Sunny, Hit Monkey) handling the screenplay.

Producing the film will be Marc Platt and Adam Siegel of Marc Platt Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson of Story Kitchen, and SEGA’s Toru Nakahara. Mike Goldberg will be executive producer, while Timothy I. Stevenson will co-produce.

Nearly a decade ago, SEGA commented on looking into adapting their older IPs to TV and film, and it looks like we are now seeing them following through with their statements.

Not much else is known about the movie so far, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.

Worth noting is that a new Shinobi game- a reboot- is also in the works, and that we may be hearing more about it soon.
