Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa has The Nikkei that it is currently taking preparations to combat the threat of Nintendo Switch 2 resellers. Online reselling of popular items for extortionate prices has become a huge problem and massively affected the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Shuntaro Furukawa says Nintendo will “take all possible measures” to combat the issue when it launches its next generation console later this year.
“We will take all possible measures based on the experience we have accumulated to date (regarding scalpers and the like). We are making preparations.”
Cool, but there is only 1 answer and that is to make enough to meet demand.

I can understand why Nintendo president is being serious and cautious about this sickr :-(
They can battle scalpers by putting a limit on the number of Switch 2 units each individual can purchase, otherwise how can they stop anyone from buying and reselling an item online. Nothing prevents them from reselling an item they purchased for a profit.
Nintendo has no control over retailers like bestbuy and gamestop – that’s impossible to enforce unless they handled selling entirely through their own stores
While I am still waiting to see what the launch game lineup is, I’m currently 70% confident Switch 2 will be a Day 1 buy for me, and I have no intention of biting the hooks of any scalpers to get one. Depending on when pre-orders go live, I might do what I did for the OG Switch and camp out in front of a store the morning after the showcase and secure one then.

I know it will be a day 1 buy for me. Now if i can just see all those companies claming they have the NS2 measurements so i can buy those accessories before the console is available.

I’ve already put down a 1p deposit on a couple of sites day 1 of them allowing it. Obviously will only be buying from 1 of the retailers because I don’t need 2. But if you’re in the UK there are retailers allowing you to “register your interest” already.
