Monster Hunter inspired game Dauntless closing its doors

Dauntless, the free to play Monster Hunter inspired title which was available on the Nintendo eShop, will be closing its doors on 29th May at 11:45pm PT. A reason was not given for the game’s closure, but presumably poor player numbers were to blame. The development team has thanked players for being a part of the Dauntless journey. It will be interesting to see what’s next for Phoenix Labs.

  1. Wow, so everything is lost? Daaamn. I can understand Wilds is going to be the final nail in the coffin, but nothing was stored locally like MH? I feel so sorry for everyone playing this.

  2. This is probably the main issue I have with the live service model. If the game fails you lose everything you paid for over the years when they inevitably close the servers with no single player support. Makes the experience feel hollow and unfulfilling.
