Game Informer and its team returns with new owners

You may recall that, last summer, it was officially announced that Game Informer would be closing its doors after being around for 33 years. It was, sadly, yet another example of layoffs and closures that had been a tragic theme throughout 2024. A lot has happened in the gaming industry in the nearly 8 months that have passed, including the grand unveiling of the Switch 2, but unfortunately, Game Informer wasn’t around to cover any of it.

But, there is some very good news to share with you. Game Informer has confirmed that they are back in business under new ownership, and the team that had existed at the time of the closures have fully returned too. They have confirmed that their print magazine will be returning in the future, and it was revealed that they had been working behind the scenes to keep up with what had been going on while they were closed.

  1. This is incredible news, Game Informer was a huge part of my childhood i loved getting them in the mail.

  2. Game informer should rot. I received 2 magazines out of 24 that I was supposed to get for being a GameStop Pro member the past two years.

Needless to say I didn’t renew my GameStop membership for the first time in a decade.

    1. You shouldn’t still be supporting GameStop, if you’re a real gamer. We don’t trade in games, we certainly don’t buy used games especially when digital gaming is far cheaper, and I’ve yet to meet anyone in GameStop who even knows what they’re talking about! As for Game informer, like most modern “journalists” their downfall was because they got so much information wrong and shared too many biased opinions instead of talking facts. It’s better that we get rid of these “journalists” and fill the void with people who actually know what they’re talking about, real gamers instead of casual hobbyists.

      1. Maybe “real gamers” like yourself should get a job, move out of their parent’s basement and start actually contributing to society instead of angrily gatekeeping a hobby primarily intended for children :)

  3. Oftentimes Powerup reward members don’t get a physical magazine in the mail, they get a digital copy of the magazine via email. Just tell the Gamestop employees that you want a physical copy of the magazine not digital. I had the same thing happen.

  4. Yeah, they’re back and the first thing they do is give the woke garbage that is DA Veilguard and 8. They’re going to fail all over again 🤣. Can’t wait to see how they spin the utterly abysmal tragedy that is the racist, sexist, toxic, child grooming AC Shadows now.
