A Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct coming 2nd April, 2025

Nintendo has officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware which looks exactly the same as the leaks suggested. Though we got a new video showing the console, the Kyoto-based company has yet to do a full unveiling, which presumably means a look at some of those all-important games that you will be able to get your hands on when the system launches later this year. The Nintendo Switch 2-themed Nintendo Direct will take place on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025. Nintendo has also announced it will hold Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events, where consumers can go hands-on with Nintendo Switch 2, in cities around the world.

      1. No, the Switch was in September, not October, but it showed much more than what we see there… there it just shows Joy con magnetic fasteners and that she’s wider.

In fact, I hope it’s not only that, otherwise hello disappointment!

        1. Disregarding leaks, we all assumed the Switch 2 would just be a better Switch. The hybrid concept was too good to go back on, so the best outcome was always going to be that the Switch successor would be a “better Switch”.

The Switch 2 is a better Switch. Idk, man- what else were you expecting or wanting?

          1. Even for a 2 min trailer they could have packed in new games (split second clips), mention of improved online, overlays about the internal chips, confirm 4k upscaling, show new OS, talk about the storage……. that enough?

            1. That would be good for one group of people for sure, but I think they’re trying to market the system in a similar way to the original Switch.

Think of this announcement more like a teaser. It was designed to hook their audience, but not overwhelm them with minute details they may or may not care about. From the Everyman’s perspective, this teaser showcases that it is a better Switch than what they already have, and that it will have a brand new Mario Kart title. The April Direct is when they’ll showcase all of those finer details, which is good because it separates the technical details from this teaser that’s more “spectacle” in nature.

I know that most of us here are gamer nerds and we want those finer details, but what they chose to do with the reveal is just simple marketing for a broader range in demographics.

    1. I wouldn’t call it “lackluster”, stranger. What you had seen was a FIRST LOOK trailer. You’re too blind to realize the Nintendo Switch 2 has a bigger screen (8.1 inches, LCD), improved Joy-Cons, two USB-C inputs, and a teaser sneak peek of a new Mario Kart title.

There will be more information and understanding of Nintendo’s new system during the Nintendo Direct this April. Have some patience for once and calm down.

    1. It could be a good sign but in the other hand it could overshadow metroid prime 4…considering if the latter is a dual release or a launch tittle.

      1. I don’t think there’s a huge overlap between people who consume Mario Kart and people who play Metroid. If Metroid Prime 4 can be a launch title, it’s possible that people will pick it up with the system simply because it looks cool though. Multiplayer games and single player games bring in different demographics, but a launch window can help to bridge the gap and bring in new players who are trying to justify their console purchase.

So what I’m trying to say is- we don’t really know what will happen with MP4, but as long as it’s a launch game or launch window release, it should have a pretty good chance of selling well

  1. It’s true that the name “switch 2” is rotten… And I notice that “mario kart 9” is not different in terms of graphics than the previous one, it suggests no technological leap or almost (which I hope I’m wrong about because the hardware of the switch is 10 years old this year…)

On the other hand, the dates of the cities suggest that it will not be released at best before the summer.

    1. yeah, the graphics on that new mario kart are not that impressive i gotta say, but the map looks huge and if you look at the start, there seems to be signs pointing that there will be 24 characters in one racer, and that’s exciting

  2. Oh but I’m not saying the opposite, a brand new Mario Kart is exciting^^
I’m much more worried about what it has to offer compared to the Switch…

I just searched a little on the net and “if it’s true” it turns out that it would be equipped with a modified version of a tegra orin and that in dock mode, it would be at 3 Tflops, which is ridiculous currently but much higher than the basic switch.

      1. I am still skeptical “until the day when”
I just share what I see, feel free to do what you want with it after all

Even if the leaks about the design of the machine have proven to be accurate, I am less formal about its alleged technical specifications
(or NVIDIA has really tinkered with a chip!)

    1. I’m much more worried about what it has to offer compared to the Switch…
ah don’t worry about that, Nintendo for me at least, it’s all about the games, look at the gameboy advance and the og gameboy, aside from the shoulder button, what unique feature did the gba had that the og gameboy didn’t?
still, those two consoles are unique one from another because of their awesome library. it’s gonna be the same thing for switch 2. Nintendo is gonna give us banger after banger, i think it’s gonna be great

      1. Except that you are talking about another time, at the time Nintendo was unbeatable on the mobile front then they wanted to surf on the success of the wii with the wii u (except for the gamepad, the design was absolutely the same..) and the 3DS even if it sold well remains a failure for Nintendo

I don’t know what Nintendo is planning but I just hope that they didn’t limit themselves to a vulgar “upgrade” of the Switch, I like to think not even if their video didn’t show anything more compared to the Switch

        We’ll see on April 2

  3. And it begins…….

Followed by Legends Z-A (was this even announced for the Switch?) What will happen to Pokemon Home and the seven you can’t transfer anywhere (including a particular Alolan Raticate, the ONE outlier of those seven)?

  4. Unless we’re in a different era, when Nintendo was mobile gaming https://atelier-gabrielle.fr/ royalty, we can assume that they intended to ride the Wii U’s wave of popularity (apart from the gamepad, the design was identical). Regardless of its sales performance, Nintendo’s 3DS was a dud.
