More details have emerged regarding the long-awaited live action The Legend of Zelda movie. The film is apparently being filmed in beautiful New Zealand and the start date for the filming is November 2025. There’s more though, as the film is rumoured to be a trilogy. Nintendo announced Friday that the Zelda movie will be released in theatres, March 2027.

That’s what I’ve been hoping for ever since we first started getting these Nintendo movies.
Zelda is such a vast expansive world with a lot of lore that you can’t comfortably include even just a majority of it in one film.
Plus, I hope each film is titled after a piece of the Triforce (Courage, Power, and Wisdom).
Not a fan of trilogy’s.

Great titles. That makes perfect sense since the symbol is a triangle icon for the series.

They also should let Miyamoto, Aonuma, and Koji Kondo have cameos a la Stan Lee (not necessarily comical, maybe as shopkeepers or townsfolk in the background).

Yeah, doesn’t sound good if they’re rushing it to be a trilogy when the first movie isn’t even filmed, nor finished.
Who said they’re rushing it? It was announced back in 2023, they have enough time to film the first movie, and story boarding isnt always done with a single movie in mind.
I just want to see a film where Link only says one thing… And that is of him walking by Legolas (Orlando bloom), both of the them nod and say “….’sup” and continue walking away from each other on their respective journeys.

It does make sense to be a trilogy considering the prominence of the number 3 in the series.
In fact, it could be so each movie is focused on a different aspect of the Triforce: maybe starting with Wisdom as to showcase the world and Zelda’s backstory, Power to showcase Ganon/dorf’s rise in power, and ending with Courage as Link goes on to save the day.
They have a certified blockbuster if they can pull it off successfully.
I suppose we’ll hear casting before the end of 2025, then? It’s going to be impossible to keep leaks on actors down, but… now that I think about it and say it out loud— this is Nintendo, they could probably keep the actor behind Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf under wraps until January 2027 LOL
