Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was the very last game that Nintendo revealed in the Switch 1 Direct that was held earlier this week. Although the game won’t be releasing on the Switch until next year, it has been more than a decade since the last Tomodachi Life game was released, and that was on the 3DS. It is something that quite a few Nintendo fans have been wanting ever since the Switch launched in 2017. You may be surprised to hear, however, just how much hype there is for this game.
The game’s reveal trailer is very popular right now, not just in Japan but in the United States as well. For example, as of less than a day ago, Nintendo of America’s Instagram post of the trailer has gotten 298,000 likes and counting. In comparison, the Metroid Prime 4 trailer that was also in the recent Switch 1 Direct has gotten 44,000 likes on the same account. In fact, the only thing that the Metroid Prime 4 trailer is currently outpacing Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream’s trailer on is the amount of views on Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel.
In Japan, it is even more popular. In fact, Nintendo’s Japanese X/Twitter account posting of the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream trailer has racked up 400,000 likes. Not only has this surpassed the amount of likes that the same account received from the Switch 2 reveal trailer in January, but this is now officially the most liked posting on the account ever. Nintendo of Japan’s video of the trailer has even surpassed well over a million views. Needless to say, the new Tomodachi Life game is getting a lot of attention. Time will tell on whether that will make the game a sales success.

Tomodachi Life fans rise, our time is now 🕵♀️
Tomodachi Life has rise from the grave.
I regretted not playing the 3DS game when it released. Definitely gonna pick this up when it releases
Man, you missed out.
If this new one is anything like the 3DS game, I’ll tell you this- it’s less a game and more like an app. Most of the game is checking in on your islanders, giving them things like food and clothes, and picking from a list of options and watching what happens, or just watching what they do around the island. Occasionally you’ll play a simple minigame with one that can net you items that, when sold, give you money to buy more things to give your Miis. A lot of the charm comes from the antics your Miis get up to, most of which you have no control over- sometimes you can directly make decisions for them but it’s not common.
It’s definitely not for everyone, but what game is? I loved the 3DS version and I hope this new one has everything the previous game did, and more.
Was always a no brained idea, I don’t know why they waited so long but I’m glad it’s actually happening
Makes sense you’d like it then since you have no brain.
Never played this series and from what I’ve seen it interests me nary a bit. Glad to see the fandom is stoked though!
