Sony’s sending a survey to PlayStation gamers about Switch 2

Now that the Switch 2 has been given a proper showcase, a lot of gaming companies have been gradually reacting to it. Due to Microsoft’s friendship with Nintendo, as well as their desire to embrace multi-platform games more, it’s safe to assume that Xbox will eventually get a presence on the Switch 2. However, Sony and their PlayStation team have remained quiet.

Well, it seems that Sony is staying quiet about the matter because they want to see what their fans think first. They recently sent out a survey asking PlayStation gamers about the Switch 2, including how interested they are in the console, exactly they’re interested in and what is motivating them to purchase one. Whatever they decide to do in response to the survey, it will likely be a good while before we find out what it is.

    1. All I care about are the games. I currently own a Switch and a PS4 PRO. I like them both. Zelda, Mario, Gran Turismo, Sackboy, etc. Great exclussives.

  1. Anonymous Skywalker

I’ll be honest about the console, I really love the tech behind it, not totally upset about some of the game’s prices or supposed price but concerned about it. as for the price of the console I really hope it’s not more than $500, $450 is sorta pushing it but willing to pay it. That being said I don’t know what Sony thinks but they probably won’t be able to compete unless they pull a handheld as powerful as an ROG Ally but cheaper (fat chance on cheaper than it).

    1. Expect a crowdfunding to buy diapers for us PlayStation executives soon, be proud to be the first to heard it from the one.

    1. Idk. I have a decent list of games I could play on switch, might not be in a rush to buy switch 2. But also want to play prime 4 on the new gear.

    1. No it’s not. lol it’s exclusively nintendo game. Nintendo direct came out and said that donkey Kong bananza will be an exclusive Nintendo switch 2 game

  2. Sony bringing in the brown pants, it seems.

Yeah, they have reason to be afraid. Godawful decisions all around, being forced to put their titles on PC, two titles in a row having performances issues (Spider-Man 2 and TLOU2), cold reception towards Intergalactic and Yotei, plus Miyazaki’s middle finger towards them.

  3. Freedom Wars, Everyone’s Golf, and Patapon are announced and coming to Switch. PlayStation wimped out and has lost their confidence. The industry leader is now in an identity crisis. Xbox already admitted defeat. Phil Spencer is no prognosticator. Xbox wanted to see PlayStation fall and destroy them and claim king, but they couldn’t so all they can do now as they’ve lost the trust of consumers and continue to treat them as they do and pick their pockets, the Activision acquisition was likely supposed to be what Xbox thought would be a significant blow to launch them ahead but they way over bid. The point is, Xbox has nothing else they could do so, they had to admit defeat, they’re done, but PlayStation never had too. MLB The Show going multi-platform was a problem. Jim Ryan couldn’t even stand up for PlayStation and Phil Spencer AND Nintendo for that matter just happily accepted a PlayStation quality game, because Phil Spencer couldn’t get anything else, that was his shot after he lost Insomniac back to PlayStation and Sunset Overdrive couldn’t even carry his brand, but neither Xbox nor Nintendo stood up for the industry and told MLB: “That’s not how we do business here, we’re not going to accept it.” Instead, Phil Spencer saw an opportunity and sold out and even gave away a game he invested in or paid anything for for free.

So, the fact PlayStation has been porting games to the PC and then Lego Horizon shows up out of nowhere is suspicious. Nintendos bread and butter is gaming. If Nintendo isn’t porting and isn’t concerned, why should PlayStation be? Nintendo within three minutes of their Nintendo Direct emphasized EXCLUSIVE TI NINTENDO SWITCH is an out of date phrase, but is still just as relevant today as it’s ever been. If Xbox does, they go back to making PC software. If PlayStation does they go back to making movies, music, TVs, audio equipment, cell phones, cameras and PCs but Nintendo WHO SHOULD BE THE MOST CONCERNED who only has toys and trading cards, doesn’t seem at all worried, so why is PlayStation? If Nintendo isn’t porting to competing hardware, why is PlayStation?

PlayStation used to be just as ruthless as Nintendo, except for their eagerness to sue everyone, with the exception of George Hotz but once Jim Ryan took over and then Herman Hulst, PlayStation lost their spine. PS games have a one year exclusive deal and then go to PC? Nintendo isn’t doing that, and have zero desire to do so.

And PlayStation sends their IP to Bandai Namco to pretend like Sony isn’t playing that game? Yeah right….. We’re not stupid Sony

  4. Boy nintendo sure got the fanboys whipped to pay 80 dollars for games, an entire tech demo that should be for free, and 450 for a console on par with a ps4.

    1. The price of the games is the same as the competition…as for its power, the developers contradict you, it is well above a PS4 or even a PS4 Pro but as already said: it is not relevant since it manages effects that do not exist in the old generation

    2. Game prices have stayed the same for forty years, expecting that to continue during economic uncertain shows you don’t understand how the world around you operates. An industry not being touched by inflation for forty years is literally unheard of. It was going to burst. Pay some bills and come back when you’re an adult.

    3. On par with a PS4 PRO. People keep thinking Nvidia and AMD graphics chips perfoemance metrics equate to each other. They don’t. CUs on one playform is completely different on another platform.

Anyways, $80 per game is not proprietary to the Switch 2. Every console will see an increase on their next gen. PS6 is only a few years away.

I have a Playstation AND a Switch. Just because someone has a Nintsndo console, doesn’t mean they are a Nintendo fanboy.

    1. “Switch 2 is too expensive”

Shells put them same money for a similarly powered steam deck

      Buys $900 graphics card

Shits in pants and sucks thumb

      1. Steam Deck allows people to play already purchased library’s of games. I have nearly 500 games on Steam from many years online. From my understanding Switch 2 won’t even play Switch games without paying more for it. I have/will purchase neither cause I’m too broke to afford a new system, but I understand the concept of buying a system I have games for, instead of one I have to buy new games for. It’s why backwards compatibility can make or break a system, especially in our current economy. Simple fact though, Nintendo will not get hurt by this decision. People will buy anything Nintendo dishes out, good or otherwise. (Looks at the Wii U sitting on shelf absolutely covered in Dust.)

  5. I will buy the switch, I have a PS5, i will play the switch on the go, for exclusives, and cross play titles. For multiplayer PS5 games that are not cross play, I will play with my friends who only have PS5. I am way more impressed with the Switch 2 then the PS5 as of right now. I am having troubles liking PS5 at the moment. I feel like I just have not received an exclusive that interests me, and the PSVR 2 is great but again games are hard to come buy. I got TOTK on switch and hadnt played it just in hopes that we could upgrade the visuals on Switch 2

  6. People here thinking this is about the console itself. No, Sony is asking what people are willing to pay. This allows them to raise prices sooner than seeing what the market is in 6 months to a year.

And I would be fine with paying $80 for a game if wages would have kept up with inflation.

  7. Interesting move from Sony—it’s smart to gauge user sentiment before making a move, especially with the Switch 2 generating so much buzz. The industry’s definitely shifting toward more cross-platform thinking, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more PlayStation content showing up in unexpected places. Even outside of consoles, apps like YouCine are already changing how people experience entertainment across devices. Could be a sign that the lines between platforms will only keep getting blurrier.

  8. Wait, seriously? That’s interesting! I wonder what kind of questions they’re asking—maybe trying to gauge how much of a threat the Switch 2 might be? Kinda cool to see Sony paying close attention to Nintendo like that. Would love to see some crossover innovation come out of this. hill climb racing

  9. I’ve build a digital collection for both platform and i dont want to rebuy what i have on one on the other so sony better make a ps vita pro because the mobility will eventually make me rebuy them all for the switch 2 which will cause me to abandone the play station not portable
