Nintendo Switch firmware updated to Version 20.1.0 (patch notes)

A new firmware update is now available for the original Nintendo Switch family of systems. Being updated to the latest console version will be required to perform a system transfer from Switch to Switch 2, so if you’re planning on picking up the Switch successor on 5th June, make sure you update as soon as possible. Check out the full patch notes for Version 20.1.0 below.

Ver. 20.1.0 (Released May 27, 2025)

  • Visual updates have been made to the Parental Control settings.

  1. The last stability update before a new console release is making me feel weirdly nostalgic like the time when 3ds had its stability update a few days before the original switch release I miss the old 3ds stability jokes.

  2. Why would i want to transfer?
Cant i simply log into my account and have access to all my games on eshop and save data?

    1. Yeah I think you should be able to. If nothing else, at least for the games that stayed exclusive to Switch 1, like the Labo VR Kit.
