Director of Final Fantasy Tactics has reposted State of Play announcement

The long-rumoured Final Fantasy Tactics remake could be just round the corner as the director behind the original Final Fantasy Tactics, Yasumi Matsuno, has reposted the PlayStation State of Play announcement and then subsequently deleted the acknowledgement. Mr. Matsuno isn’t the only employee from Square Enix who has done this since the announcement went live this afternoon. The State of Play presentation begins tomorrow at 2pm PT / 10pm UK time.

  1. id much rather have a new game then a remaster frankly.

just release the ps1 game on gog and touch up the phone game for steam/psn or what ever and make anew one…

    1. Personally I think tactics Advance and A2: Grimoire of the Rift were better games than the original, but would really show their age if ported to newer consoles as they had a lot of gameplay/mechanics built around the limitations of the GBA, so a remaster wouldn’t make much sense so either a complete remaster or sequel would be more reasonable.

Yasumi Matsuno also previously outright insisted that a ff:t remaster was not in development.

My predictions would be a remake of ff:t using a brand new engine, with FF:ta and ff:tA2 getting remakes in the same engine shortly after

  2. But once again, what is the point of posting such news on this site?! Is Nintendo’s news so poor that you have to post news from other companies?

  3. This why I love My Nintendo site I always find new info in it even if its small chance coming to Nintendo, also Square enix games mostly comes to Switch.

I really hope they finally do announce a remaster/remake of this amazing game. It should be on all modern platforms both digitally and physically, I know I’d buy it day one physically on PS5/Switch 1 if it got announced there. I don’t trust the Switch 2 announcements because of the Lame Key Card BS that Square-Enix is falling on the sword for of late. Just port Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD to other platforms so we have a proper physical distribution of it while they’re at it.

It’s going to be a nothingburger like how it was every time someone in the gaming industry retweets a ‘Direct’ or variant of. Might have something related to Final Fantasy or Square-Enix related otherwise don’t get your hopes up. That being said, if I’m wrong then I’m wrong but I am interested in the State of Play, hopefully something good happens.

    1. Turns out they announced something. According to Eurogamer: “It’ll include two versions of the original game, a classic version which is a faithful recreation, and an enhanced version with improved graphics and more.”

“FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles launches Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 for Nintendo Switch™ 2, Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam®, and is available for pre-order now!
