VGC: Developers have started to pitch ideas for new Banjo-Kazooie game at Xbox

Banjo Kazooie

This past week has been dreadful for Microsoft and Xbox employees with a huge amount of people sadly losing their jobs and multiple games being canned and teams being gutted. One of thing that the VGC has heard though is Xbox and Rare have started taking pitches for a new Banjo-Kazooie game from different studios. Both Toys for Bob and Moon Studios have apparently pitched their ideas and that is not all as apparently there has been constant talks about interest in a cartoon or movie adaptation of Banjo-Kazooie. Let’s hope that something eventually comes of this.

  1. Amazing news! Banjo-Kazooie fans have waited long enough tbh, lol

It’ll be years off, but I’m hopeful !!

  2. Well there won’t be a new Conker, especially if it’s to be made in modern day Orwellian woke fest UK.

    1. Squanch Games I think could do Conker right maybe with the South Park guys. Big Red Button Entertainment maybe too at least Bob.

    2. Can we stop that already? The whole woke crowd thing has passed and gone. Now the Internet is full of POS’s that continue to use “wokeness” as their excuse to be racist bigoted selfish POS’s. We get it, you don’t like anyone that isn’t like you 🥱 just embraced your racist bigotry and move on.

  3. Honestly good choices not sure what Moon would do? We haven’t seen them make a 3D platformer. Honestly Vicarious seems perfect. Squanch should be given Conker. The new Shinobi guys should be given Battletoads, Arzest and Evening Star should be given Blinx finally, also they might be a good team for Banjo as well, Avalanche for Crackdown, Saber for Brute Force and Gears, Asobo or someone else for Fuzion Frenzy, Toys For Bob also let them make a new Whacked, Tork, and Kung Fu Chaos.

    1. Big Red Button Entertainment is another choice I’d rather see them take Crash and Spyro. Maybe Kameo, Conker, and Banjo too. TFB can’t make good games Crash 4 was awful and I wish Vicarious had remade Spyro instead same with all other old Activision and Microsoft games. They shouldn’t have used also have John Tobias partner with Iron Galaxy to make Tao Feng 2 and with Ishii’s new studio to make Kakuto Chojin 2 and have Yuya Takahashi and the Kamen Rider Geats write the story. Saber should also take on Mech Assault and maybe let Avalanche make a new open world Crimson Skies.

      1. The original Fuzion Frenzy studio is owned by Rebellion or the devs founded a new studio owned by them hire them to make a new one and Vicarious remake it. Same with Banjo and Jet Force Gemini other games too have Vicarious remake them. Asobo should make Nightmare Creatures 3 and Vicarious remake 1 and 2

    2. In the meantime Vicarious should remake them honestly all the Xbox older IP from the OG console and Rare games remake them under Activision it doesn’t take long. Also we’re finally getting a new Protoype and may be getting THUG 1+2 remade! They need to remake True Crime next and a sequel to NYC

    1. Sure, this is an easy one to explain and I would love to do that for you. Banjo Kazooie is a game series that originated on a Nintendo platform and garnered a cult like following for its two mainline games on the N64. With the potential for a new one to be developed under Xbox studios and with Xbox providing a large amount of support to other consoles ie Sony and Nintendo this makes the news very relevant for us fans of Nintendo and Banjo Kazooie.

      1. Apparently you didn’t understand that I was being ironic… of course I know who Rare is, but as I’ve said and repeated: Rare has not been with Nintendo for over 20 years, this news has absolutely nothing to do here especially since it is clearly specified “on Xbox”, your hopes that it will be released on Switch are just pure speculation: are you aware that it may also NEVER happen? So once again: this news has NO PLACE HERE!

        1. You’re a pathetic loser. These people in the comment section served you when you were trying to imitate intelligence so just stop now. This is embarrassing.

    2. You asked the same question when FF Tactics was rumored for the Sony presentation, saying it has no place on here, why are you reporting this, when it was obvious why. Then a day or two later when it was announced, it was also announced it would also be coming to Nintendo, which is what everyone had explained to you was likely and why it was relevant. Same thing here. You know Microsoft would definitely also release it on Nintendo Switch 2, it’s the perfect target audience and they love Nintendo. But even if it doesn’t come out for Nintendo, it would be a sequel to N64 games (and Banjo was even ported to the Nintendo Classics for Switch just 3 years ago), so Nintendo fans would still be interested. Like if your favorite band dropped their label and joined another label, you would still be interested in hearing that next album even if it’s not on the same label.

But I confidently say if this comes out, there’s no way it wouldn’t also be on Nintendo since Microsoft is doing multi-platform releases now. Just like that was obvious for FF Tactics.

They posted about the Sonic cartoon, that’s not Nintendo but it’s still tied to a game that’s on Nintendo, so it’s relevant. If this were an article about a Halo movie coming in 2028, you may have a point as there is no relevancy there.

      Remember this:

But once again, what is the point of posting such news on this site?! Is Nintendo’s news so poor that you have to post news from other companies?

      June 5, 2025 (just 2 days later)…
Final Fantasy Tactics coming to Nintendo Switch consoles September

      1. What a stupid thing to do…
The Final Fantasy license doesn’t belong to Sony…so Square Enix is free to port it wherever they want…unlike Banjo Kazooie, which belongs to Microsoft, and nothing forces them to port it elsewhere.

If you’re going to try to troll me, do it intelligently.

        1. He isnt trolling by putting you in your place. He referenced MS doing multiplatform.. which has also been announced on this site. And, we know that you know that.

Its also hard to tell when you’re being ironic when acting infantile comes so naturally.

  4. Honestly I say they let Nintendo make it. Set an agreement to allow it to have exclusives on Switch 2 the team making Banaza can make it. It would have like exclusive levels and extended story mode on Nintendo and release in Game Pass as well.

  5. They should either let it go or just make a “retro” BK game.

I never played BK when I was younger so I have no nostalgia for it. I played Yooka-Laylee first (it was ok) and eventually played BK on the NSO app. I was honestly shocked at how similar YL and BK really were (BK was a bit better imo). At any rate… YL kinda fell flat with gamers, so much so they are remaking it like 7 years later. What I’m saying is… making a BK game with modern graphics isn’t going to sell well.

Now, they could modernize and evolve the gameplay for a new game… but tbh I think Bananza has already got the concept beat. I really doubt any studio is going to make a BK game that will be better than Bananza.

So that leaves either letting the series RIP or just make a N64-looking BK game sequel. As long as the level design is good and controls have modern polish, it could do well. Remember Sonic Mania? Think of something like that but for Banjo Kazooie. It’d also be much much cheaper to make, thus less of a risky investment.

  6. Who? Team Asobi? With Helldivers II going to Xbox who knows what to expect anymore with everybody getting along……

    1. What? Cancel games that were going no where and wasted money? They should closedown certain studios Halo, Obsidian, Rare, Turn10, Coalition, Arkane, Compulsion, Ninja Theory, and Undead Labs. Perfect Dark was going no where the studio couldn’t make a game and became a skeleton crew so they needed to outsource to Crystal Dynamics who also faced massive layoffs and were prioritizing the next Tomb Raider game no time for another project in addition new reports claim footage of the new Perfect Dark was all fake not real gameplay. Everwild the Rare game was always a horrible idea, first they revealed a CGI trailer nothing else then it came out Rare actually still had no idea what kind of game it would be gameplay wise this continued for a year or 2 then the game got scrapped and restarted they wasted like almost a decade on nothing. State Of Decay 3 is in a similar state where we have no idea when the game will release despite State Of Decay 2 being way old now and the reveal of 3 being in 2020 with no update or gameplay reveal same with Contraband a game Xbox partnered with Avalanche on which only had a logo reveal also revealed in 2020 still with no update and worse Avalanche has faced massive layoffs and recently cancelled a new Just Cause game well Square did. The Activision division is making games and honestly should take over the Xbox division. Also Microsoft does have a win with Ninja Gaiden 4 they helped fund it and are publishing it.

  7. Given how Microsoft is moving towards (supposedly) allowing its exclusives and other properties to be released on other consoles, I really hope we get a Banjo Kazooie remaster (and all the BK games for that matter) for Switch 2 or PS5.

    1. I would have said that too but given their current track record no or more so it’s iffy. Besides they’re publishing now and have Tencent money or possibly more layoffs on the way. Playtonic hasn’t made a game in a while either and they failed to deliver on Yooka Laylee it was mid at best. There’s better options to take on Banjo, Vicarious Visions is owned by Microsoft they’d be the right studio.

    1. It didn’t they made Nuts and bolts it was bad. Modern Rare just can’t do it justice honestly they can’t make games last games they made I did like were Viva Piñata and Kameo

  8. Please for the love of god make it a traditional platformer. Thats the banjo we all love! Bring in the cars and banjo flight and make it like an online multi-player mode or something like that. If you have to include cars I think competitive racing is a good way to go. You could even add missions for jiggys if thats what you want but dont make it like nuts and bolts where each level has like 5 different portals and theres only one npc giving out quests and all their is to do after that are get the jingo coins. Another not so popular decision by the zbox devs. When Xbox made stop n swop about car parts it kind of crushed my soul. You could put cars in the base game I guess if you wanted to go big open world in certain areas thats fine. But give us actual things to do in the worlds new areas to explore new powers obstacles to overcome challenges like the old games had not just open nothingness. Okay thats all my feedback and ideas as you can tell im a huge banjo fan. It was the first game I ever played that I loved and im very passionate about getting a proper Banjo Threeie. Thankyou toys for bob for keeping my bear and bird alive.
