Former Platinum Games producer the talented Hideki Kamiya has continued on with his YouTube series in which he replies to various comments that he has received over the years. The latest thing that he has addressed is the controversy regarding Bayonetta voice actor Helena Taylor who was replaced in Bayonetta 3 for the Nintendo Switch. In a strongly worded rant Kamiya said the following:
“Even famous people were jumping in and throwing comments at me. And then, once things calmed down, I went back and looked— and they had quietly deleted their tweets. Hey, apologize to me first before you do anything sneaky. THAT’S SOME REAL COWARD SHIT. You posted it publicly, on social media, right? So if you were wrong, you should publicly admit it. Say, “Hey, I messed up”—own it”

In Bayonetta’s case, the English voices are the original.
Kamiya is still awful and a hypocrite Mr blockzilla. Guy who almost destroyed Platinum, took Tencent money, transitioned to mobile and live service games, burned bridges with Nintendo and Microsoft. Then martyred like Kojima. Tomonobu Itagaki better and we need him back for a new Dead Or Alive and other games.
I remember this everyone, and I mean everyone on Twitter was at his throat. As for me I’m always a person to believe innocent until proven guilty. And when it turns out he was I didn’t see anyone saying sorry. Nothing but fake ppl lol

I’d feel bad….but then I remembered he called smash fans idiots and told them to f off when they asked him questions about wanting Bayonetta tomorrow appear. This was before dlc came out. Him verbally bullying an okami fan and later being sorry about it

Except Smash fans are, indeed, some of the most idiotic people in gaming. “Geno or riot”, “Melee or riot”, Waluigi death threats, etc etc (not to mention some prolific Smash competitive players being outed as Ps)… they brought it on themselves. Even Sakurai got overwhelmed because, for the better part of Ultimate, he couldn’t tweet about a game he liked otherwise people would take it as a confirmation that it’d be on Smash in some way.
It’s a tough competition between Smash, Pokemon, Sonic and Final Fantasy fans about which fanbase is the most stupid. But Smash does bring the big guns.
A lot of them ARE idiots because they kept pestering him about the DLC as they don’t know when to back off.
This is what Spider-Man 2 “fans” have been doing to Insomniac since launch, going so far to be POS thieves and cause their horrible leak incident which has put nearly everything in the backburner, then have the audacity to blame Insomniac for taking so long with Wolverine.
These aren’t gamers, these are entitled casual hobbyists who believe they’re owed something despite never contributing anything meaningful in any way. These are people that, in a small way I support Kamiya being aggressive towards because they actively ruin everything. As for Kamiya, I knew in the beginning he wasn’t to blame and stood up for him when everyone else didn’t. It’s truly not that difficult to do 5 minutes of research and see the truth, but people want to jump on social media and take majority side just to feel important and heard. It’s the same thing going on right now with the garbage terrorist movement “free Palestine”.
Hard to free something that doesn’t exist at all.
But yes, these people invaded the gaming space, which wasn’t supposed to have discussions like that since it’s entertainment and, as such, it functions as escapism from reality, and started ruining it.
Kamiya is nothing but a bully and a hypocrite. Bro killed his own series, and ran away after the consequences. No one is going to do a Bayonetta 4 unless they retcon a LOT of stuff people hated.
He may not have done the pay stuff but he’s still a nasty individual, even if he’s a great creative mind.
Love that people are more worried about discussing Kamiya than what he’s stating. Which is completely true: Helena Taylor made an incredible mess and had many people rushing to her defense (for the obvious reason) and blamed everyone, from Nintendo to Sega, PG and Kamiya himself. Then, when it was proved she was talking BS, said people never apologized.
The awful comments here are why I have not been visiting mynintendonews as often. Toxic. Gross. Immature. Woke. I hope this message does not get deleted because it needs to be read by most of you posting.
It’s not just here, it’s most of the big websites in gaming. They all seem to be liberal run or monetarily supported so they parrot incorrect information. Kamiya never was guilty here, but people want to be loud and spread misinformation instead of using their brains and doing a modicum of research.
The sheer irony of someone using “woke” unironically while complaining about other people being “toxic, gross and immature” is truly something incredible to behold lmao.
It doesn’t help that, unlike most sites, MNN still uses the outdated WordPress format so it’s easier to delete commentaries (or rather, never allow them to be published) if it’s not of your convenience.
