Nintendo has apparently been asking Japanese gamers for feedback on the controversial Game-Key Cards to gauge consumer reaction to them. Game-Key Cards are obviously a cheap way of distributing physical games, but the majority of players would rather have an actual 64GB cartridge with the full game on it. It’s not clear whether Nintendo will issue the same survey here in the west, but if they do then please fill it in.
Japan: Nintendo asking for feedback on Game-Key Cards

I really hope developers take note of the good reception Cyberpunk got for being available as a physical game card and try to do the same with their own titles. I was really hoping to have Hitman, Elden Ring, and Final Fantasy on physical cartridges too, but having them as key cards only is a deal breaker for me.
Nintendo really dropped the ball by not giving third parties more options for cartridge sizes. Hopefully they’ll start making bigger (and smaller) sizes so that third parties can avoid using game key cards when possible.
Don’t be too hopeful. We both know many 3rd parties will go for the cheapest option & the Game-key Cards are definitely the cheapest.
Exactly! We now know that they will choose the cheapest option for their games and they will make the perfect choice for having it on a better price.
I would like to see the sales figures for cyberpunk physical Vs digital on the switch 2.
Hopefully they are big enough to encourage other smart developers to use game cartridges.
I bought cyberpunk physical so I at least had one game cartridge for my switch 2 because I bought the mario Kart bundle.
I am also very aware that the majority of publisher’s will opt for the cheapest option available.
I am more likely to play a cartridge game on my switch 2 down the line because I will be deleting most downloaded games to make space on the system.
Maybe third party developers would be more willing to have their games on actual cards instead of the stupid key cards if Nintendo allowed them to use 32gb cards instead of either 64gb or the game-key card. I’m sure some devs would like to offer a physical card option for their games but it’s just cheaper to go with the game-key over a 64gb card.
