Outspoken leaker Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly, who apparently has connections at Retro Studios thanks to his interview work, has stated in a post on X that Retro Studios will begin work on Metroid Prime 5 after development has finished on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. He also said that they will most likely try their hands at something different once Metroid Prime 5 developed has come to an end to avoid franchise fatigue. He also said that it’s unlikely that Retro Studios will return anything soon to the Donkey Kong Country series as this is a new era of Retro Studios.
“Im seeing people taking Nintendo’s comments about there being 2D & 3D Donkey Kong going forward as Retro continuing with 2D Donkey Kong, No that’s copium. It’s unlikely Retro returns to Donkey Kong again, there were unique circumstances at play to allow them to make the DK games. Retro’s original existence was to make games for Nintendo that they themselves couldnt make. There are so many internal teams that can make a 2D Donkey Kong game, there is NO ONE other than Retro that can make a Metroid Prime game at the caliber they make them. I am not saying they are going to become the Metroid Prime studio, I imagine after Prime 4 they will do Prime 5 then move onto another IP due to franchise fatigue I am also not saying that Retro arent capable they certainly are and Tropical Freeze is easily Top 5 2D Platformers ever made but we are in a different era of Nintendo and a different era of Retro. I just want to keep everyones expectations in check here.”

Should have been done that with all their franchises besides just Mario and Zelda.
And after Metroid 6 is complete immediately start on the 7th one.
In the meanwhile, i would be all set if they give us the Echoes and Corruptions remasters. the first one was easily the best-looking game on the Switch, and of course, a terrific game. (sorry guys, can´t be objective just look my pic)

I imagine they’d make a 5 and 6 before moving on since it seems everyone aims for a trilogy now.
But yeah after prime 6 I doubt they’d make a 7.

Stop reporting on POS thieves! “Leakers” make everything worse for everyone, and it doesn’t matter how they obtained their “information”, it was still stolen. Stop putting these awful, worthless, pathetic people on a pedestal and just ignore them. It’s not news, it’s not reliable, in most cases it’s just a lonely pathetic POS creating rumors for attention, but occasionally it’s a lonely pathetic POS stealing.
Just stop. Much like how eBay can single handedly stop the scalping market in gaming (or at least severely reduce it), “journalists” can stop this hobby from further being ruined by just ignoring these POS thieves. It is that simple, there’s no news here to report on, and your editor should be ashamed for allowing it to be published.

Thieves? The guy has a connection to Retro and is saying what he thinks and why. No one is claiming this is journalism or fact. Anyhoo, I hope they go right into 5. Would love to see a Switch 2 exclusive Metroid Prime, coming out a few years into the life cycle when they know the system better.
