WayForward has announced firm release date for Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution and fans of the long-running franchise can get their hands on a digital edition on 19th August. The game was an unfinished sequel that never saw the light of day and has now been reworked, retweaked and completed by the development team and is canonically, the second game in the series. It’s priced at $24.99,
“Shantae is back in a 2D side-scrolling action-adventure game 20 years in the making! The nefarious pirate Risky Boots has a “groundbreaking” new plan that will leave Sequin Land spinning — by rotating the continent, she can move any town right to the coast for easy plundering! As Shantae, turn the tectonic tables on Risky by taking control of the land itself: shift, twist, navigate, and explore by swapping between mix-and-match multilayered levels! Hair-whip and belly-dance your way through scrambled lands, misplaced towns, monster-filled crypts, and daunting labyrinths. Six creature transformations, fierce boss battles, and a 4-player versus mode await!”
Features:
- Discover the lost chapter of the Shantae saga, fully restored and released after 20 years!
- Fight and explore using your hair-whipping ability, magic items, and belly-dance transformations (including monkey, elephant, crab, and more)!
- Spin and shift Front Yard and Back Yard playfields to create new routes and solve puzzles!
- Visit towns, battle through labyrinths, purchase upgrades, find collectables, and meet with friends like Rottytops, Sky, and Bolo!
- For the first time ever in a Shantae game, four players can compete in Battle Mode!

You can order a physical copy on the 8th from Limited Run Games for about $30. I’m going to do that since i have every Shantae game already physically except for Pirate’s Curse. The only downside is Limited Run can take a painfully large amount of time to deliver your games.
Like how people that pre-ordered Shadow Generations are just now getting the game. I’ll just wait for the eventual GOG release of Shantae and make my own physical copy.
Yes, I shall do the same, I was tempted to get the advance physical, but I shall get this, I too have all the shantaes physically apart from pirates curse as its resell value is very expensive
I wanted the Advance Physical but I knew it would cause me to want to try to collect more if not all of my old games back. I once had basically every console and handheld, Virtual Boy included and essentially all of the best games on each console but had my entire collection stolen about ten years ago or so. It was really sad and one of the reasons I wish Nintendo would give the option to purchase classic titles digitally at least because greedy resellers in the US and the people enabling them to be able to sell say a common GameCube game for $300 Completely ruined me ever being willing and avle to purchase back all of my games physically. Old cartridges are dying anyway and the internal batteries. I heard that 3DS Cartridge batteries are even begining to ho bad.
I wonder if these “costumes” were always going to exist or if they were added after the uncancelation. Either way, Shante once again proves that it’s the best indie game IP. “What about Minecraft?“ What ABOUT Minecraft. Besides, a five-year-old can make a new costume for Minecraft. These sprites had effort put into them. Unnecessary effort, but effort nonetheless.
They clearly only were made for this release, no such thing planned for the original GBA release.
