Dragon Quest producer Yuji Horii has commented on why they chose to remake Dragon Quest VII before other beloved entries in the RPG series, such as Dragon Quest IV, V, and VI. Horii says that it was simply a matter of chance that they settled on VII first. Horii also said that Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is progressing very smoothly and that a lot of progress has been made on the game thus far.
Yuji Horii: “A lot of things are moving around, but it was just done first by chance.”
Yuji Horii: “As I said just now, we want to make them playable on ongoing platforms.”
Naz Chris: “Does that mean VII is simply progressing smoothly?”
Yuji Horii: “Well yeah, there was also a period for [its] development… and we do have a lot of progress.”
Naz Chris: “Like, for example, IV had a lot of [story] chapter divisions, maybe that’s why it could be taking more time?”
Yuji Horii: “Well, well…” *laughs

This was the most exciting thing from the Nintendo direct!
The battle graphics looks unreal its like its from a future console generation not this one.
I’m not mad that they chose 7. I would’ve loved if they did 8, but I’m ok with 7.
The DQ series isn’t in dire need of remasters like the FF series was. We gotten so many DQ remakes that anything DQ related is very much welcome. If they were to bring the entire DS collection over, that would be awesome.
3 DQ remakes, 3 Joker games, and Dragon Quest Wars 🤩
I’m still wondering why they never remade IX.
It’s interesting to see Dragon Quest VII being prioritized. Much like streaming entertainment, game remakes rely on timing, platform readiness, DixMax smart TV and audience engagement to deliver the best experience across modern systems.
Truly amazing. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Undead Corridor appears to be on a promised route.
