Capcom says that they don’t always want to revisit Resident Evil characters

Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem looks to be shaping up to be something special. We’ve seen plenty of footage of the game now and the rumour which has been doing to rounds since its reveal is that it will feature Leon Kennedy. IGN spoke with Resident Evil: Reiquem director, Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazama, who told them that while they don’t want to wipe the slate clean with fresh new characters in every new entry and they also don’t want to go back to the existing pool of characters in the long-running franchise when they create new games in the series. The duo said that this was “part of the motivation” to introduce Grace in Resident Evil Requiem.

“Although we don’t have firm plans for the future storylines of later titles in the series, I still think passing the torch is probably going a bit too far, because we’re not just going to wipe the slate clean completely in terms of the series lore and history. But at the same time I don’t want to always have to just go back to the well of existing characters to create new games, which was part of the motivation to introduce Grace.”

      1. Well, considering chris was both a cameo and playable on RE7 and 8 respectively, it stands to reason that people would think Leon would see his own fair time in a feature in 9 – especially since Leon has arguably been the fan favourite of all the characters in the franchise.

  1. Now they’re charging people to watch Capcom Cup as PPV. Like these FGC tards are beyond stupid they’re losing money they got investment from the Saudi’s to raise the prize pool something these tards fail to realize like these 40 year olds assume money comes out of nowhere. They’re even saying UFC doesn’t do PPV or will stop but that’s only because they got money for a streaming deal next year. Someone educate these Capcom tards the stupid FGC. Capcom going to be Saudi owned sooner than later.

  2. No problem, I don’t want to pay for the same games over and over again, as well. Especially for companies, who can’t produce new games and only old spam reheats.

  3. Honestly I don’t care what they do as they make a cohesive story thats well written and executed. I don’t want constant cliffhangers and confusion in the time line
