We know that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will eventually launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 as the game was rated months ago. Now a large French supermarket and retail chain has published the box-art along with information that it will be a Game-Key Card, as you might have suspected. When Ubisoft is planning to actually announce the game for Nintendo Switch 2 remains to be seen, but when they do we will let you know.

Yeah I still only have Mario Kart and Donkey Kong. I’m not key-cards. I honestly feel scammed out of half a thousand dollars for purchasing a Switch 2.
I’m actually really upset after purchasing the Switch 2. I didn’t think that all 3rd party titles would be jey cards. I want to physically own all of my games and have them all playable off the cart, no internet or downloads required. I hate modern gaming for that. Most of you grew up in the digital era and dont realize what you wre missing and losing. I’ll never support key cards.
The funny thing is NOT all third-parties are using key cards on Switch 2. Cyberpunk 2077 is on an actual SW2 game card, and it’s like 60GB (SW2 game cards I think are up to 64GB). If those devs can do it, others really have no excuse, especially if their games are smaller sizes.
Dang that’s a crazy way for the game to leak lol. I haven’t played an Assassin’s Creed game in ages, but always thought the story of this one sounded super cool. I might pick it up.. but well, that kinda depends on just how much space that GKC would take up lol
For me I’m ok with key cards as long as they’re no more than 40GB, unless I make an exception for something like FFVII Remake lol
If I wanted to go full digital I’d just get the PC version. Hard pass for many reasons but game key card is a huge deal breaker for me.

This key card thing is so annoying, but the thing is even games that are released full physical nowadays end up having significant download, Witcher 3 for switch is an example, fantastic it was all crammed on the cart with the dlc, but now with all the updates and what not it’s about 12gb on my switch as well, obviously you can still play it in its released form, but the best experience requires the space and download to play it.
The key card thing though is still very off putting. It’s almost like what’s the point in the plastic, it’s just there to try and mimic a physical copy.
If Switch 2 can run Shadows at least at the level of Xbox Series S, it will be a breakthrough.
