Many are enjoying Pokemon Legends Z-A but feel that it would benefit from voice acting

The overall impression of Pokemon Legends Z-A online is that it’s a step in the right direction and one thing that the majority agree on is that voice acting would have brought the game to a new level. The game features well animated cut scenes and the characters lips move when talking, but there’s no English or Japanese voice acting, which can leave the dialogue feeling a little flat in this day and age. Many players have commented on the lack of voice acting on social media so hopefully Game Freak and The Pokemon Company take notice and consider it for future games in the Pokemon series.

Thanks to SonicGalaxy27 for sending in the news tip.

  1. It’s true but it has been an issue ever since X and Y. It’s fine to not have voice acting in 2D games, although it can still add something, but when you have 3D models interacting with each other in cut scenes (however wooden the animation might be) you really should be having voices. It’s bizarre and I can only think that the reason they would give for not doing it this far into the series is that they want all the languages available to have the same experience. This seemed to be a big deal to them over the years adding more and more languages and the undertaking of voice recording so many different languages is too much. But it really does hurt the experience without it.

    1. In Colosseum when you battling the trainer that has a ton of Ludicolos, you hear voice acting in the music. Also in Colosseum you had days and night and your main character had actual footprints and rainy days. I own Pokemon Violet the only time it rains is if i make it rain in battle. And no foot prints if you wkes in the sand.

      1. Colosseum did not have a day and night cycle, nor did it have any kind of changing weather. There is no naturally occurring rain in the game either.

        You are lying.

  2. Yep. If you’re going to have cutscenes where the characters are moving their mouths, then you really should have voice acting. There are way less profitable franchises that have full on voice acting.

      1. I think the issue is probably how quickly they crank these games out. They never really adjusted to developing on a home console and this generation is severely lacking quality control. Za is really fun, but there reputation is taking a beating. They need to fix this

  3. Voice acting should be put on the table for the Pokemon Company and GameFreak in gen 10 or another legends game if you want to include cutscenes with characters moving their mouths.

  4. That’s… actually a fair criticism. This ain’t the 90s anymore. Just like how many people refuse to comprehend a new Nintendo system without a new Smash bros title where Sonic is playable, I refuse to comprehend a new Nintendo system without a new Smash bros title where Mega Man is playable. But I want Mega Man to have a voice. He even uses a weapon from Mega Man 8, a game where he has a voice. Quit being cheap Nintendo. And another thing, if a protagonist is going have dialogue choices anyway, stop having protagonists be mute. Just look at Star wars the old republic (the MMO).

  5. How is it acceptable that the franchise that has an entire anime series based on it with multiple movies as well. Dose not have voice acting in the source material? the core part of the franchise the games? This is one of the biggest franchises in gaming history ? Why are we accepting this ? Why are our standards so low that we accept this ? They can do it they just don’t.

  6. The reason why I play without sound, is awful sounding VAs. I don’t want to hear them pronouncing names wring ir Pokemon repeating their nmae as a noice over and over again. This is why I hated the show so much.

Subject: Feedback on the “A Challenge from Froakie” Sidequest in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
    Dear Pokémon Support Team,
I am writing to provide feedback on my experience with the “A Challenge from Froakie” sidequest in the recently released Pokémon Legends: Z-A. As a long-time fan of the series, I appreciate the new direction the Legends games have taken, but I have some concerns regarding the difficulty of this particular mission.
While the first two stages of the obstacle course were enjoyable, the third and final section felt excessively difficult and poorly explained. The precise timing required for the rolling mechanic over the large gaps felt frustrating and inconsistent. This created an experience that was more tedious than challenging, causing a roadblock that I feel does not align with the game’s overall design. I observed similar complaints from other players online, which suggests this is a widespread issue rather than a personal one.
A more balanced approach for this segment could include relaxing the time limit, reducing the size of the gaps, or providing better in-game tutorials on the roll mechanic. This would prevent players from becoming stuck and would maintain a more positive gameplay experience for everyone.
Thank you for your time and for considering this feedback. I hope to see this and other user feedback addressed in a future update.
    Sincerely,
    A frustrated Pokémon Trainer

    1. It took me two attempts to beat the course you’re talking about.

This is the textbook definition of a “skill issue”.

      1. Your name is already a sign that you’re ignorant. The phrase and the misspelling/incorrect grammar shows you have childish humor without any adult intelligence. Secondly, nobody with a brain believes video games require “skill”. You’re just pushing buttons, which deliver an exact response. That’d be like you saying it takes skill to make toast you imbecile. No game requires skill.

        1. You're going to die alone :')

Another lonely day for you, huh?
Don’t worry, I’m sure lashing out at strangers on the internet over a children’s monster catching game will make you feel better about your pitiful, meaningless existence :’)

  8. Nobody wants cringey VA. You can read the dialogue, you know it would be childish and over-acted. I’d much rather read it faster than anyone can speak it and continue on. I don’t need to hear half of it disjointed as I go to the next statement.

  9. The Pokemon Company has been disrespectful of players’ time for over half of their games at this point. The same rehashed BS mechanics over and over until they finally started making modern 3d games and fell right on their faces so hard they had to have Daddy Nintendo sue the 3d monster game that came out at the same time and did everything about collecting monsters better than Pokemon had done in years. Pokemon fans have been nostalgia-baited into playing absolute trash games for over a decade now.

  10. “Step in the right direction” by suing for mechanic patent and then blatantly infringe on xwnoblade chronicles battle mechanic?

  11. Nintendo bootlickers definitely. This game is worse than PS2 games. Welcome to the Flat Window world of Pokemon. Only diehard fans say it’s good lol

  12. Give us a Sidequest, to destroy the Hostile Benches and get them replaced with something humane!
Maybe even send the character (make his model a fat greedy politician) flying like Team Rocket!

And I l’m still waiting for “Mischief Makers” on the N64-Library! With Marina Light-year, beating the Beast actors in the end.
