Bethesda is ‘investigating’ dire Skyrim Nintendo Switch 2 performance issues

If you’ve been trawling through social media you will have noticed that a lot of gamers are flabbergasted by Bethesda’s Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Skyrim. The open world RPG runs at 30fps, the visual changes are fairly minor and it features quite a few bugs and to cap it off, unacceptable input delay. This has led to some unhappy players online labelling the port as a simple “disaster.” Bethesda has said on its support site that it is aware of some issues and is dedicated to fixing them.

“We are investigating reports of performance issues on Nintendo Switch with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim after the Anniversary Edition update,” is the official response. There’s no word on fixes yet, but the publisher said anyone experiencing issues could subscribe to the article for updates. In addition, you can provide feedback and information regarding on this topic via the Feedback form,” Bethesda concluded.

    1. Bugthesda. Let’s call them what they are. They’ve not had a single game worth playing since FO3 and we as a community need to acknowledge that and how lazy they are.

  1. It’s definitely disappointing to hear that Skyrim’s Switch 2 version isn’t living up to expectations, especially for a game that’s been re-released so many times across different hardware. A 30fps cap, minimal visual improvements, bugs, and input delay really aren’t what players were hoping for on Nintendo’s newer system, so it’s understandable that frustration is boiling over online.

At least Bethesda acknowledging the situation and opening the door for feedback gives a bit of hope that patches are on the way. Skyrim can shine on portable hardware when properly optimized, so fingers crossed they can turn things around quickly.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the situation, Sickr.

    1. Surely your account is a joke account, right? There’s not a single real gamer surprised a bland boring game like Skyrim launched buggy, from the very studio named Bugthesda. Casuals are mad, no real gamer buys Bugthesda trash.

  2. It’s completely normal for a massive and ambitious studio like Bethesda —arguably the best video game company today— to run into a few issues when updating or adapting a game as huge as Skyrim. Gamers should already know how this works by now: titles of this scale can always have some technical hiccups, especially when running on new hardware like the Switch 2.

Instead of jumping into absurd hate and low-effort negativity, people should be patient and trust a team that has delivered legendary experiences for decades. The important thing is that Bethesda acknowledged the problems and is already working on fixes, just as expected from a studio of their caliber.

    Thanks for the update, Sickr.

    1. Best video game company ever? Are you serious 🤣🤣🤣? Bugthesda hasn’t made anything worth playing since FO3, and no, Skyrim isn’t worth playing. You seem to forget they’ve used the exact same engine and format for every game since Oblivion at least, and it was dated and buggy back then. Bugthesda games are the only games where the studio actively supports modding out the gate because they need all their naive fans FIXING their mistakes. Nobody plays vanilla Skyrim because it’s garbage, everyone mods it to make it ENJOYABLE. At that point just buy a good game instead of more Bugthesda garbage.

This isn’t an anomaly, this isn’t a surprise, this is fans continuing to support a low tier studio that’s ridden their own coattails from a bygone era for too long. Their first true opportunity to start something fresh with Pronounfield flopped hard. Bugthesda is a horrible studio, like Bungie, or R*, and especially CDPR. We as a community need to stop giving low effort products a passing of the hand and just assume they’ll fix it; they won’t. You keep buying, why would they put any effort in?

JFC the delusion from long-time casuals is astounding.
