Fans have been asking Square Enix for a Final Fantasy VI remake for quite some time, but one person who wouldn’t want to be in charge of it is Final Fantasy VII Remake game director, Naoki Hamaguchi. He says that if Square Enix did eventually decide to pursue a Final Fantasy VI Remake then he would rather another staff member lead the charge and he would help cheer them on from the sidelines.
“I have received a lot of voices from fans to make a Final Fantasy VI Remake. But because I have been involved in the Final Fantasy VII remake project for now about 10 years from start to finish, and now finally basically seeing the end of the tunnel. So in that respect, because I have used up all this time into producing this remake of Final Fantasy VII, should I be the one to undertake remaking another series? So rather than myself heading another remake project, I would rather see maybe a new creator come in and put myself in the support section to sort of cheer them on rather than being the one to head a new remake project.”

Enix is better and so is Dragon Quest. Under Square Enix we got Sleeping Dogs and Kingdom Hearts games such as 2, 358, and BBS, also TWEWY.
Square needs to sell Sleeping Dogs sell it to Saber and let’s get a remake and good non woke sequel finally.

Remaster of FF7 exists remaster means the same game with remastered picture quality, audio possibly, textures possibly, and frame rate improvements that is a remaster, remake means new graphics. Crash N Sane Trilogy remake, Crisis Core a remaster but with brand new cutscenes, Aspyr games remasters, Demon Souls PS5 remake. Don’t worry they will go under Rebirth flopped, 16 flopped, Outriders, Valkyrie Elysium, Foamstars, Balan Wonderworld, Life is strange, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, Stranger In Paradise, Babylons Fall, Forespoken, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, GOTG, 14 has not been doing good, Avengers, Thief, Just Cause 4, Hitman, and a bunch of others including their mobile division. Capcom is the same and no one calls that out Exoprimal, Path Of The Goddess, Dragons Dogma 2, Dead Rising remake, Monster Hunter Wilds underperformed, and honestly I assume Street Fighter 6 isn’t doing what they wanted since they are charging for tournaments as a PPV add on way high marketing with celebrities such as Lil Wayne and IShowSpeed and licensed costumes and crossovers they are not making what they wanted add on $1 million dollar Capcom cup. Bandai I think is not far behind that weird Shadow Pac man game flopped, Unknown 9, Tekken doesn’t seem to be doing great with Shimbori leaving and now Harada probably being forced out given he’s not retiring, they’re banking on Code Vein 2 which looks cheap and the Revel Wolves game add on they sold Elden Ring to Kadokawa, cancelled most their anime games and a Nintendo partnership, and have essentially been pushing employees out. Those Geoff Keighly events cost a lot to show your trailers and Bandai also wasted money on Clive.
Rebirth surpassed original in quality
From what I was told you need to play the original to understand the remake games. It just seems too complicated and way too stretched out. Most people who played remake didn’t seem to come back for rebirth they are normies they don’t know its a trilogy they think its just a rerelease of remake. If they found that out it would be too much like the MCU just slop to them. 1 remake makes sense a complicated reinterpretation sequel trilogy is just too out there.

Also their contract for the remake trilogy is 3 games, the remake only happened because Sony and Epic funded it for timed console exclusivity and back then EGS timed exclusivity. Those funding it do not want it to exceed that and where would Square get the money when they are struggling? Sony and Epic funded it and to them it may be underperforming. Also with sales of Rebirth being half of Remake in the same amount of time they are probably concerned about dragging it even worse with FF7 spin-off games not performing as well such as mobile titles I don’t think are in operation anymore. They are not dragging it out to 5 once again because of those reasons add on technological standpoint too, the remake trilogy is being developed all in UE4 if part 4 and 5 are to be made they would need to be in UE5 or 6 by then given the PS6 will exist and UE4 would be way outdated, UE5 is something devs struggle with and Square has not made a UE5 game yet the only 1 in development is KH4 which has not had an update since 2022 probably because they are struggling with the engine and they are not alone. Then there’s price increases games going to $80-100, less people playing, the bad impact PS5 gen left being barren so many will not jump to PS6 add on that will probably range from $700-1000.
