Sonic Team head says he’s open to adding ‘deep cut’ Sonic characters as CrossWorlds DLC

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds could eventually get even more characters than those planned for the current season pass. Speaking to MCV magazine Sonic Team boss, Takashi Iizuka, said that the company is open to adding some “deep cut” Sonic characters if the opportunity feels right, presumably meaning if the game continues to sell well. He said that “we want Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds to represent all eras of Sonic.”

“Sega has such a rich cast of characters, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a great place to celebrate that legacy,” he replied. “We’re always thinking about who might be next, so keep an eye out for more announcements down the line as the Season continues.”

There’s a lot of passion around the extended Sonic universe, and we’re open to including the ‘deep cut’ characters if the opportunity feels right,” Iizuka replied. “We want Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds to represent all eras of Sonic.”

“We started [talking to partners] long before launch and most partners were very enthusiastic,” he said. “These collaborations take care and time, especially to get them right for the fans. As for companies who passed … we won’t name names, but we’re always open to conversations in the future!”

  1. They need to add a story mode with challenges. Or put it in next game.

No need for more characters although that would be cool. Blaze is sexy 🔥 🤤 tho I been fappin’ to her as my AI GF.

      1. This is the audience the current Sonic leadership wants they themselves are like this. I miss the Shiro Maekawa era just bring that era back so much better than Sonic now. Back then furries disliked anime now they have anime.

      2. Sonic under its current leadership is for these people the comics show that too and imagine how much worse it will be with them in it from IDW and possibly SatAm. Keep kids away from Sonic just saying…

  2. Iizuka, Flynn, and Webber need to be fired they are ruining Sonic. We can’t get SA remakes or new Riders but this gets a ton of moneu for guests?

    1. Pray tell, who do you think should replace their positions if they are doing such a poor job? Clearly you have insight into their failings and understand who would be a suitable replacement for each of the open positions.

      1. Bro they’d just promote from within and yes it would be better but guess we found a Flynnatic the people ruining Sonic

        1. Still haven’t answered the question, bud. Who should replace them? At least answer that, otherwise this is the last time I’m interacting with a time waster like you.

          1. Is that a threat? It sounds more like entitlement. Welcome to the internet and you are not superior by any means which is the way you come across. Your response to anyone is not some privilege you are not so high and mighty. Also calling someone “bud” how old are you? No offense just very odd.

            1. I’m not superior to anyone, but when someone doesn’t engage in a meaningful conversation I don’t feel any obligation to continue. I asked the other user to answer a question, and they never chose to do so. My time is precious to me, and I’d rather not waste it meandering on a gaming news comment section.

‘Bud’ isn’t a weird word to use. I’m not a teenager or younger, if that’s what you’re suggesting. Sonic articles always wind up bringing in weirdos, trolls, or bots, but you seem to be a reasonable user.

        2. Flynn has to go his team too it feels they just stroke their own egos and lie. The comic people really seem to be like this. I assume they waste Sega money on their projects. The IDW comics need to end and all characters created there erased.

    2. Agreed I say bring back Shiro Maekawa and buy Platinum let them merge with Sonic team Inaba I trust way more. Inafune I would trust more than these 3.

    3. Webber really does nothing it’s weird he is even there. Flynn needs to go and the comics cancelled and Iizuka brings nothing to Sonic anymore. Current staff can take over and a new writer can be found.

      1. I don’t remember what but Webber did block things in Sonic Forces resulting in the boring story also from leakes messages seems he hates Sonic. There was a video on it and rumors are Flynn was a writer for Forces or revised the initial script.

      1. At this point I say just ignore all the comics just stick with the games and anime. I will take my boy Chris over any of them and to keep the furry brigade or most it seems away from Sonic.
