Nintendo has announced via its Nintendo Today smartphone app that they will be hosting a special Super Mario Galaxy-themed Nintendo Direct presentation on Sunday 6am PT / 2pm UK time. No doubt plenty more will be revealed about the long-awaited movie including some more of its eclectic cast of characters.

Genuinely, what do you mean Nintendo is getting like Sony? Sony announces there games at minimum like 3 years in advance. Nintendo usually holds their cards close to their chest like this.

I didn’t say directs we less frequent. Besides, you’re flat out wrong. Nintendo’s “summer” direct was just a bit early last year with the switch 2 direct in April. We still had 3 big directs last year. In 2024, we literally only had ONE big direct, and in 2022 they skipped out on the big summer direct entirely, opting for just a partner showcase in June. Or how about 2020 where didn’t even get a SINGLE general direct? I genuinely don’t know what you are talking about.
Why in earth does a movie need a Nintendo Direct? And why not a direct in Switch 2 tittles? They better be announcing a Galaxy 3 at the end of this Direct.
Nintendo has been doing non-video game related directs for years. They did it with the first Mario movie (twice), the museum, and the amusement park. It’s just there way of advertising their products. I don’t understand why people get so pissy about this. It’s not like it’s changing their video game release schedule or anything.
Why are you being so defensive for Nintendo? Criticism is they can and should do a proper direct for games and just release a trailer for movies over doing directs. You are going full defense for a company that just sees you as a consumer that can be replaced.

As for directs based on moves, I just genuinely believe this is a stupid complaint. No one can tell me what is actually wrong with it. It literally has zero impact on their normal directs. I don’t even watch these directs, and I thought the Mario movie was mediocre, but I also don’t really care if they make a direct for it because I fail to see how it negatively impacts me in any way at all.

Watch them do this for Zelda movie also with Sony. No more games just movie directs. We are getting Brie Larson Metroid movie it is coming watch and Seth Rogen written Donkey Kong movie with him staring in it that is already confirmed. Heck they might do one for Detective Pikachu 2 forgot that is being made too the first movie is an abomination.

Can’t compete with the Sonic movies, Mario is decent but Sonic got the edge with some adult jokes sprinkled around.
That said I’m sure it’s a decent movie and pretty family friendly regardless.

Sonic movies are better the Mario movie is not good. Sonic 3 was bad but enough good to say its better than the Mario movie. Sonic movie 2 is the best one far better. Minecraft movie was better too. Mario movie is better than MK 2021 that movie was awful.

They should buy Square that eliminates the roadblock. For whatever reason Square was against him being in Smash but Cloud they were in with. Even Disney allowed Sora. Hyabusa and/or Kasumi should have been added.
