Leaker claims Super Mario Maker 3 is in development

Super Mario Maker on the Wii U was an incredibly innovative product giving everyone the tools to create their ideal Mario levels. The sequel on the Nintendo Switch included even more tools and assets to use. Now, leaker Shpeshal Nick, claims that a new Mario Maker project is in development at Nintendo. Naturally there’s plenty of things to add to a new addition in the series, though it’s not clear at what stage of development the game is in.

By the way, I never gave any details beyond hearing that it’s a thing. I never said anything about a year or release timing. I’m aware of the setting, but haven’t said anything publicly

  1. “I heard that…but I can’t say more…but I don’t know when it will happen.” sigh

  2. Mario maker 2 is already a very complete game, but if Nintendo can pull off even more then I’m up for it.
But, what I’d really, really like is a top down Zelda maker, that would be epic!

      1. We just need more practical additions, honestly. Stuff like vertical stages, screen wrapping option for vertical sections, option for static abilities with a health bar, the ability to add 3 star coins with new time categories “any% complete” and 100% complete”, option to remove the time limit, the timer item that adds to the time limit when playing a course, more course complete goals than just the flagpole such as collecting the ? orb from a defeated enemy to complete a stage (like Boom Boom from SMB3) or carrying a key to a keyhole (SMW), the option to make the starting point anywhere in the level rather than at the leftmost corner, the option to make tracks invisible, more doors per screen, umm… there’s more but it’s been a while since I thought about this and my memory not so good.

I mean yeah, a Wonder style would be a great addition too. I just wouldn’t want it to be high priority.

  3. A new mario maker would be my most anticipated game of all time since we are never getting another earthbound/mother game. Put over 300’s in mario maker 2, and I would KILL to see mouse controls for this.

  4. Mario Maker could be so much more, I felt that 2 did the bare minimum, and Online Multiplayer had really bad performance, I want night themes not to be tied to gimmicks and not just add a few new things, I want Maker 3 to be double the content of 2. Need Better ways to find Levels as well, All the top levels in Maker 2 are always auto and music courses. Also I want to be able to download and keep more levels, I haven’t had Nintendo online in a few years because I don’t use it but wish that I could have had more spaces to save Mario Maker Levels to my console beforehand, there shouldn’t even be a limit.

  5. Yeah, nah. I’m not going to believe this is one. It’s clearly just a “enhanced Switch 2 exclusive” port of Mario Maker 2, with additional new mechanics, maybe Rosalina and Daisy being playable, and MAYBE they’ll return the unique crossover 8-bit costumes from MM1.

    $90

Oh, and don’t expect any lasting support to keep the game alive for a decent year or two.
