NeatherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, has revealed in a new interview that the team is busy working away on a new game in the Mortal Kombat series. That’s not all as there are other projects in development that Boon can not talk about at present. One of those games is believed to be Injustice 3 which we’ve heard might not be named Injustice 3, but features a number of DC characters. Here’s what was said:
Absolutely. Well, circling back to NetherRealm, Mortal Kombat 1, I believe, was 2023 when it first released. It’s been a minute. A lot of people are very eagerly waiting for the next chapter of whatever NetherRealm does next. What can you tease? Is it another Mortal Kombat or maybe an Injustice 3? Something completely different, perhaps? What can you tease?
BOON: I wish I could tease something. I think if I teased and gave it away, I would probably get in trouble. But we’re definitely pursuing another Mortal Kombat game, and we’re definitely doing more, as well, so there are a lot of parts on the stove, not just with games, though, with other forms of media and whatnot. So, we’ve got a lot of great announcements that are coming.
It’s not Injustice 3. Other projects seems to mean not games like animated movies. Ed does not like DC the WB Games Studios don’t want to work on those IP. Rocksteady wanted to make a new IP live service game but only way to get it to move forward was to make it a Suicide Squad game that later flopped.
They should outsource instead let Capcom make a DC fighting game like Power Stone that Jeff Matsuda/Glen Murakami style cel shaded. Same with other games like Batman, Nightwing, Jonah Hex, The Flash, etc.
They should do it with all WB/HB/CN IP from the 90’s and 2000’s including stuff that was rerun it would be cool that gameplay and stages like Cartoon Network City, Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, Toonami, Miguzi, Kids WB it would be amazing.
Ports possibly as well but weird given the kollection seemed to have flopped as did MK1. Come to think of it MK2021 flopped too why is there a sequel? Ed may want to rethink what he says now MK may get put on ice if that next movie flops.
Ed overhypes like crazy when he think something is cool or big it’s normally bad it could mean posters, toys, Fortnite, guest characters, and stuff like that. He is very out of touch and so is his circle look at MK1 that was everything his circle wanted all the influencers told him to have a tag system that became kameo, all the guests, JCVD, reboot, and MCU clone with MCU humor then flopped
Ed Boon is the GOAT. Still working on the same franchise after 30 years and still so passionate about it. Named one of my cats awhile back Boon after him. :)
I don’t think it’s passion I think he wants a long term check post retirment so the brand is relevant even when he retires also he probably is a egomaniac control freak. He didn’t create MK by himself most his ideas were copy movies the actual story were the other guys like John Tobias. You can tell things like MK11 and 1 showed that all the guest characters too. The guy likes being kissed up to the whole Dynasty situation exposed that when Dynasty got blacklisted for not praising MK11 instead offering criticisms. The gameplay of modern games are trash and ignoring the 3D era shows that he probably didn’t do much or anything on those games. Just a 62 year old man whos full of himself and likes to troll way too much.

He refuses to take criticism like all other modern devs and same in office too he refuses to hear what employees have to say and makes them suffer while he trolls on social media. NRS employees are suffering PTSD from MK the gore is messing them up as well as a toxic environment led by him where they are not paid well, under crunch, and suffering. That’s a horrible person Ed Boon. Then the issues with MK1 where he ruins Hanzo spat on that character.
RIP Injustice going to be over 10 years and no sequel. Maximillian Dood is about to flex that man hates DC and comics he and the MK stans bout to throw a party over hearing this. No rumor directly from Ed’s mouth. I hate Max for implying comic fans should have no say in games that are based on things they like and implied they are pdfs because Danger was in Tokon but if this is the case just let Nakayama make a DC vs Capcom game unlike Ed the Capcom guys have said they want to make a DC fighting game and Nakayama met with Jim Lee so hopefully. Then we don’t have to see MK guests in DC games ever again.
I’ll take a Ben 10 fighting game over boomer MK. Not sure I trust NRS given their last few games. Love DC but no fan of how they handle the characters and MK seems to have had it rough the last few years.

Ok then NO Mortal Kombat guests in Injustice 3 stop it keep your Mortal Kombat and bad third party guests for Mortal Kombat 2/13. Injustice 3 if it happens only Ben 10, Generator Rex, and Secret Saturday guests because Gen Z nostalgia and WB owns those IP unlike all the stuff in Mortal Kombat where except 1 all other guests are third party costing a ton in licenses and likenesses. Ace from Loonatics Unleashed and Kiva from Megas XLR would be cool too for Injustice 3 just niche throw aways and it better be longer than Mortal Kombat 1 was.

Ed did this with MK1 he teased Injustice 3 before revealing that like this a hole he is. Now he says more MK but it might be more Injustice….then again he clearly hates DC so it could be more MK he might not be lying. Honestly tired of the trolling and his refusal to hear criticism.
