There can be no denying that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has been a smash hit with cinema goers as the latest domestic sales for the film in the United States has now reached a staggering $412.60M. Nintendo and Illumination are presumably now preparing for the digital release of the animated movie which arrives on platforms like the Apple TV Store and Amazon Prime Video on 20th May.

We love to see it
I wonder how Illumination feels about this. It’s set to be one of their worse performing movies, and it’s a sequel. The opposite of their Despicable Me series where each entry has outperformed the last.
It also now seems unlike to perform even half as well as the first Mario movie.
This is the US box office, not worldwide.
