Fans have been waiting for a Nintendo Switch 2 update for the excellent Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for a while now. The Nintendo Switch game is fully playable on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it could do with an upgrade to its resolution and framerate in certain areas. Leaker NateTheHate has replied to a post asking whether he expects a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and says that he expects it will be released later this year. Monolith Soft has not confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.

would be weird for them to break the trend of Definitive Editions/Re-Releases being released for 10th anniversaries by putting it out this year but I’m not complaining

And Monolith would waste time on this, knowing it works on Switch 2? Sure…
But since it’s the sacrosanct Nate, everyone will believe him and blame Nintendo if it doesn’t happen…
This game needs a Switch 2 Edition. It has too many graphical issues and weird visual effects while playing on Switch 2. Plus it notoriously has worse resolution compared to the other entries available on the platform. Not sure why you’re being stingy about this one seeing as how the majority of fans want Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to get a Switch 2 upgrade.
My reluctance comes from the fact that this game isn’t worth it… being a big fan of Xenoblade, I was very, very disappointed by this game.
You talk about issues with the game on the Switch 2, but know that they are the same as on the Switch 1… moreover, at the time of its release, Monolith quickly released a patch to fix several problems, especially in handheld mode.
Making another ‘Switch 2’ patch wouldn’t really make sense for me; they should do like the first one: a full remake, but once again: I don’t really see the point, at least not immediately.
I prefer that they focus on a new game rather than releasing remakes over and over again.
This game ruined my enjoyment of the franchise. I haven’t even looked at 3 yet

Real talk, 2 is kinda bad and cringe and so unlike the rest of the series. But 3noblade is an absolute masterpiece and you should definitely check it out. It’s easily the best of the series by far. I think it has the best characters, writing, sidequests, combat, OST, and VA (English at least, not sure how Japanese compares yet).
For anyone curious, I rank the games like this: 3 > X >>> 2=1
Including DLC-type stuff as their own thing it would be: 3 > X > FR >> X ch13 = Torna > 2=1 >>> FC
3 is so good though! So much better than 2
This is possibly my favorite Xenoblade and one of my favorite games ever, so I’d 1000% love this. I reaaaalllyy hope it’s true.
I wonder what they’d do with torna, then. And if 1 & 3 would get upgrades/physicals, too….
I started playing this on my Switch 2 last year, but had to put it down in hopes of a Switch 2 Edition because the resolution and graphical glitches that appear while playing on a Switch 2 console. Here’s to hoping they release a Switch 2 edition!
Brother it’s 2026 and people are still at it with riffing on XC2? The best game in the series? Almost ten years later btw. I guess most people don’t really grow up to become smarter or have better taste, so I shouldn’t be surprised. It’s also absurd because this is easily the most important game in terms of the overall franchise narrative.
Haters gonna hate. I like each Nintendo entry for different reasons, but XC2 is by far my favorite. Best world to explore, best story, best characters, best battle system imo.
