Capcom has recently informed investors that it aims to grow the iconic Mega Man franchise. The company has the eagerly-awaited Mega Man: Dual Override on the horizon, but with the series 40th anniversary happening in 2027, the company says that it aims to “communicate the appeal of the series to an even broader audience.” What that means beyond merchants initiatives remains to be seen.
Q: What are your plans for the Mega Man series going forward?
A: The Mega Man series is an important IP that will mark its 40th anniversary in 2027. Beyond our announcement at the end of last year that a new title in the series, Mega Man: Dual Override, is scheduled for release in 2027, we will continue working to communicate the appeal of the series to an even broader audience, including through merchandise initiatives.”
All they have to do is listen to fans literally
Fans beg for stuff like Legends while this series is a flop financial and commercial, so not really.
Make a game that doesn’t look like a B-tier cost savings 2.5D afterthought. Capcom had the best hand drawn art in the business once. Now it looks like the least they can muster without being embarrassingly basic
One of the things I didn’t like about 9 and 10 was not only did they have outdated graphics, but they had outdated graphics for Snes standard. It wouldn’t be fair if all the other video game franchises that matter are in 3D while Mega Man is stuck in the past. A 3D Mega Man game would be nice, But unless they have a lock on feature like Starfox, I think the transition to 3D hasn’t been kind to Mega Man. I think 2.5D is a perfect compromise. Besides, in 2D games, you have to redraw each sprite when making an alternate costume; in 3D games, you just have to make one model.
Then dub the rest of the Battle Network/NT Warrior anime and Star Force anime. Remake Mega Man Legends games cel shaded and make Mega Man Legends 3. If Kamiya can come back so can Inafune.
Legends franchise doesn’t sell. That would be another flop.
After all these years of neglect.

Legends doesn’t sell, so they won’t. Even Inafune admitted these games didn’t sell well.
The last legends game was on the PlayStation one, how do you know if they made a third one that it would flop? Mega man fans buy literally everything.

How about a new X game Capcom? New ZX game? No? Alright…

Megaman X9 and Megaman ZX3 which seems to be the most wanted ones and ZX has been becoming quite popular as of lately.
And don’t forget: Megaman Legends 3 and Megaman Star Force 4 as well.
It’s really that simple.
