YouTube channel Nintenduo have gotten their hands on the revised Nintendo Switch 2 console which is being sold in the European markets with replaceable console and Joy-Con batteries. The console is currently available in several countries and has been since the end of August other countries like the United Kingdom are starting to get stock in. A way to tell them apart at retailers is that the serial number of the revised model will start with HLE. Here’s a summary of the changes via Reddit member King_Glock as well as the video showcasing the changes:
- There are now visible screws in the joycon rails instead of them being hid under anti-tampering stickers
- The heat shield no longer covers the battery so you no longer need to clean/reapply thermal paste to access the battery
- The battery is 48mah smaller and visually looks different. It looks as if it has been wrapped in a thicker insulating material to compensate for the lack of heat shield coverage.
- The console 14g heavier
It’s nice to know that we can replace things without having to pay someone else.
How it’s all changed so much, I remember my dad tinkering around with his old mk1 and 2 escorts and capris etc fixing bits on em etc, absolutely no chance nowadays, these stupid vehicles nowadays are plugged and wired up when they go wrong like there on life support.
Oh and also, don’t buy a Tesla coz my mate did and it cost 16k for a new battery, what a joke that is!
Or don’t buy EVs in general cuz battery replacement is a nightmare with a nightmare cost.

Anyone who has repaired any Switch last gen units know Switch 2 is worse to repair from everything i have read and watched on youtube.
I got 3 switch 1 all needing either a new cooling fan, cartridge port, usb charge port or batteries. Joycon batteries are all failing as well and the thumb sticks need replacing on the majority of the joycons. I fixed two of the Switch units and i have one left to repair. I also have a collection of new spare parts waiting for when those parts fail. Imagine this is the future
Never in my life have i had to repair a nintendo console or controller till Switch.
I am not gonna buy something like switch 2 that is even more difficult to repair currently and has a crappy screen and poor battery life.
If switch 2 became easier to repair i might actually consider getting it if it came here to Canada/USA. All i own this gen is Ntdoy and thats fine by me. I like the stock. Cant see a reason to own a Switch 2 yet but maybe that will change.
Kids are older and prefer the computer now. Switch 2 got released and none of them even wanted to get it. They game on the computer and Nintendo doesnt even matter to them no more. Maybe its cause the Switch units broke and i took to long to fix them? Perhaps they want something that is easier to repair ad they grow up. A computer is much easier to fix and upgrade.
We live in a throw away society so i dont think we will ever see a repairable switch 2 here but maybe. It sure would make sense.
If it have a problem with it, go to Europe.
I don’t know what you do with your consoles, but clearly you aren’t using them properly… or else your kids are hurling them against the wall…
I have two Switches—one since the 2017 launch—and they still work perfectly… just one of them has a bit of Joy-Con drift, that’s all..
Maybe you need to actually teach your shitty kids how to look after technology, because the Switch1/2 really don’t break easily as long as you practice the most basic level of care with them. 100% a you issue.
I am old gamer and autist. I play with care and i see every new tech is worst. No old quality. Ps5 controller stop working after two year warranty and only three games i play. On ps2 dualshock i play 50+ sport action games and still work! Switch 1 is mine first nintendo console with problems. Wii after thousands of hours work good. Switch joycons dead after two games! Big companies Greed steal everything from us. Modern world = Hardware is service (no quality only Basic warranty). I start hating mine life and this world.
What about the NES?
