The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct is just hours away, but Nintendo Australia may have accidentally leaked the price of the Ocarina of Time remake ahead of time. In a now deleted Nintendo eShop listing, the price of the digital version was set at AU$94.95, which is equivalent to $59.99 / €59.99 when compared to other Nintendo Switch 2 games. While there is the slight possibility of regional price differences, it seems as though Japanese retailer PlayAsia was right on the money when they opened up pre-orders over two months ago for $60. However, that’s technically a discounted price for the physical release, which should end up being $70 in the west now that Nintendo started offering digital games at a lower price.

I read that 95$ and almost had a heart attack, but then I continued to read and it’s 60$. Honestly this is such a sigh of relief, I thought this would be 80$, but no, it’s pretty reasonable. I can’t wait to see gameplay of it tomorrow. After all, its only one more day till the Zelda direct.
It’s Nintendo’s first party IP and it’s one of the most highly acclaimed games. This sounds ambitious.
Disappointing thats the price of 1:1 release, not a RE4 FF7 level of remake.
Hey, nintendojam, the way you wrote the prices isn’t correct! :P Basically the format is like this: when the currency symbol (e.g. $) is already present, the currency code (e.g. USD) isn’t meant to be included as well.
Choose either:
a) US$59.99 or b) 59.99 USD
also
a) AU$94.95 or b) 94.95 AUD etc
Wow, I have been writing it that way for over 20 years and no one has ever corrected me! But you’re totally right that it’s grammatically incorrect. It looks so much better in my opinion, but proper English matters more than my opinion so I’ve updated the article. Kinda silly it’s considered redundant when having to use “AU$” proves the dollar sign isn’t enough on it’s own for clarifying regional differences, but I digress and will take the L on this one 😆
I totally get where you’re coming from! In the past most people would likely default to thinking of the US whenever dollars are mentioned but with increased international trade and so many countries now using the dollar, there are times when it’s necessary to distinguish which country is being referred to.
I think the currency codes are convenient for times when there isn’t a straightforward way to access a currency symbol, e.g. my UK keyboard has dedicated £ and $ keys but not one for €), so both methods have their uses.
And no worries at all! Grammar has a lot of rules and it’s not always easy to remember all of them, all of the time ദ്ദി ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ )
