Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has informed the Official Nintendo Magazine that the highly anticipated Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii takes place before the events of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
“Yes there is a master timeline but its confidential document! The only people to have access to that document are myself, Mr. Miyamoto and the director of the title. We cant share it with anyone else!”
“I have already talked to Mr. Miyamoto about this so I am comfortable in releasing this information – this title (Skyward Sword) takes place before Ocarina of Time. If I said that a certain title was ‘the first Zelda game’, then that means that we cant ever make a title that takes place before that! So for us to add titles to the series, we have to have a way of putting the titles before or after each other.”

Would have figured that SS comes before OoT though, due to some delicious and spoilerific things I read about the plot. :D
He’s right because they need to keep that info on the confidential.. it sucks because us ( hardcore Nintendo/Zelda) Fan’s want to know if they are going to connect the stories to each other to who how it grows from game to game on the wii, and on the next hardware that they might be coming out in the future.. i can’t wait to get my hand on this title as i have with past great nintendo series… i wish they did something with capcom and brought MegaMan back to the fold to nintendo, in a way they did with mario and Zelda. a gamer can dream….
lol i dont know, but I had kinda already figured that out….is obvius….there’s no mentions of hyrule….nor of princess zelda….the master sword is not known by that name….is kinda obvius XD
I think the fact that they’ve already said that the SS becomes the Master Sword was a pretty big giveaway!

I don’t think having the Skyward Sword become the Master Sword sounds like a good idea. Kinda lame, actually.

I am super excited for Skyward Sword. I love the art style, and I can already tell that I’m going to like the controls, so all that’s needed is the story and game-play. From what I’ve seen, that is going to be great as well, so I’m gonna call it right now: This game is going to blow us all away!
Seeing as we were already told that from the beginning of this game, there IS no Master Sword at all, and now know that it comes to be during the events of this one, it was pretty obvious that this would be a prequel. Which makes this all the more gripping! Now we’ll come to understand why the Master Sword is the sword of legend it is today. The blade of evil’s bane is BORN in this title! How can any Zelda geek pass this up?
