Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo Say ‘There Are No Widespread Issues’ With The Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo have told online gaming publication Joystiq that ‘there are no widespread issues’ with the Nintendo 3DS despite online reports of users experiencing the so-called black screen of death and loose hinges.

“The number of calls and emails received by our customer support center is well below the rate experienced during past hardware launches.”

“There are no widespread issues.”

  1. Nintendo is awesome with covering up. I doubt their would have said it is wide-spread. So a cover-up is great for all the nintendo fans. BTW if their is a massive problem with the 3DS. A few early nintendo game releases will make us forget about it :P

  2. i got the black screen once. i could hear the music but no images were showing up. turned it off and on again and it was fine. my friend said this happened to him as well.

    1. I thought it was only certain games doing this but I hear it’s been happening with quite a few of the launch games. As I say I’ve had the console for over three weeks and haven’t had any issues.

  3. Funny story… they were talking about the 3ds in my country (people here are kinda slow on the cool things) in the newspapers but what was odd was that the only had a picture of a PSP WTF!!!!!!!!????????

  4. It’s really sporadic, I’ve gotten the black screen 5 times now, and I got it a@ US launch on Sunday. It only happened so far at home while connected to wifi, I’ve played at a metro stop and my dad’s (didn’t input the wifi) and never had an issue yet, but at home it crashes. So far only with Ghost Recon, but I’ve played that the most.

I turned off the WiFi, and will post something if I notice the issue is gone.

  5. I’ve only gotten one black screen of death. Resetting the system fixed it.

The only other issues I’ve had were with getting headaches from the 3d. Which is pretty disappointing to me, but I think I’m getting used to it; it doesn’t instantly start hurting like it did on launch day, so I suspect it was mostly a case of me not getting enough sleep so my eyes were already tired.

Oh well, it’s not the big of a deal since I don’t actually have any 3d games yet, just Pokemon Black

  6. So I played for another 7hrs last night and 2hrs today, with the WiFi Disabled it hasn’t happened at all. So, so far it only happens if the WiFi is enabled and my 3DS is connected to my network.
