The super-fun 2D platformer Sonic Mania is celebrating its 9th anniversary this year and SEGA has released some concept images of the game’s pre-release trailer opening sequence. You can rewatch the reveal trailer where the concept images are from right here.

That reveal trailer back in 2017 was such a magical moment. I’d always wanted a new 2D Sonic game, and seeing how much of a celebration for Classic Sonic this trailer was showed me that Mania was going to be an all time classic. So glad that we got these beautiful animations to accompany the reveal and release. There’s nothing else like it for this series.

This game is so good, love going back to it every now and then for some good Sonic fun. Cool to see some concept art
