Nintendo Is Preparing Nintendo Network?

Twitter user @joshua_x has Tweeted the official box-art for TheAtRhythm: Final Fantasy which has a Nintendo Network logo clearly shown in the top right hand corner. Nintendo Network is likely to be a unified service to connect both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS online, much like Sony’s PSN and Microsoft’s Xbox Live. Maybe we will hear more about Nintendo Network at the Japanese investor conference next week?

  1. Mario Kart 7 uses the Nintendo Network so……….is that the reason for all the Errors on MK7 Online?

  2. Whenever you connect to Mario Kart 7 online, it says “Connecting to Nintendo Network”. Looks awesome though. The colour matches the eShop!

  3. Hmmm, interesting.

But when next week is the conference? I’d expect Wii U details then since isn’t that where the 3DS was first confirmed?

  4. Just Imagine people playing Smash Bros. 4 online and being able to play people using the 3DS version while you use the Wii U version :)

  5. Well I hope they follow Sony’s lead and go with a free service

If they have a network charge for thr Wii U i sure as hell will not be using it

  6. oh god please no! I love the idea of Nintendo’s version of PSN etc… but the name is just so damn stupid its just WAY to similar to PSN?!?!?!? Please change the name Nintendo I mean you never rip of names I mean “Wii” where did that come from? Now you go for plain old Nintendo Network -_-

  7. Ay Iwata texted me new Nintendo Network features. Check It:

-USERS MUST ADD ALL GAME FRIEND CODES TOGETHER THEN DIVIDE BY TEN THEN ROUND TO NEAREST FULL NUMBER FOR FINAL ACCOUNT NUMBER
-USERS MUST ADD THIS ACCOUNT NUMBER TO THE AMOUNT OF GAMES FOR 3DS THEY HAVE TO GET PASSWORD.
-NINTENDO NETWORK PROFILE PAGES CAN BE CUSTOMIZED WITH SPECIAL QUOTES AND REASONS WHY YOU LOVE SHIGGY SO MUCH
-PROFILE PICS CAN ONLY BE OF MARIO, SHIGGY OR IWATA
-FOR EVERY NEW GAME YOU ADD TO YOUR CATALOGUE, A TINY CHIP IS IMPLANTED TO YOUR CONSOLE OR HANDHELD GIVING YOUR EXACT COORDINATES FOR ACTIVATING THE DEVICES’ MIND CONTROL OPTIONS FOR A FUTURE NINTENDO PROJECT…. OR FOR PIRATES
-NINTENDO WOULD LIKE YOU TO REFER TO NN AS BB FOR BIG BROTHER
-PEOPLE WHO THINK FREELY ARE DENIED AN ACCOUNT

  8. Cant wait for them to announce the servers are all in Japan. So have fun with 3-5 second lag.

They need regional servers or they could go with the standby P2P. Either way it will be expensive, or crappy.

  9. PSN sounds better than NN… or XBLA, for that matter. I think a better acronym would the the NTN, which in my opinion is much catchier. NN just leaves you with shortness of breath.

Oh, and it better have a unified profile system or else it’s a pretty useless (and I mean that literally; then it’s just a change in name, no actual change in the system and usage).

  10. Sounds interesting, it’d be nice if they offered a trophy/achievement system like XBL and PSN do. They really should get their internet up to the same standards as the other consoles and handhelds. PSN uses the same account on PS3, PSP and PSVita, Nintendo should do something similar so that you can link your 3DS and Wii U and earn achievements of sorts.

But I’ll just keep my hopes low, cos I doubt Nintendo will commit to making an online network like XBL and PSN, though I’d love it if they would.

    • It could be something similar to this:
      http://thewiiu.com/topic/881-miitropolis/

And their could be like a virtual Trophy Cabinet in your Mii’s house where you could look at all your achievements from your games

You could also go to your virtual tv and pick up your tv remote to watch online videos or pick up your wii u controller to play online matches with people

It could be amazing if Nintendo does it right

  11. I hope its an all wifi type thing…I hate having to have WEP to play my Pokemon games online…they should do something about that too

  13. Now we’re getting something.

Notice that the logo for N2 (Nintendo Network) looks like a house (home) transmitting a signal to the world. At the same time, it looks like a bridge, so maybe they’ll have crossplatform connections between the 3DS and Wii U and maybe other devices.

  15. I just realized something.
    Nintendo Network.
    Playsation Network (PSN).
C’mon, Nintendo. It sounded pretty cool until I realized that XD

  16. Sounds promising but I hope there isn’t a huge price tag attatched. The reason being so that it can compete with PSN more because Xbox Live would be too hard to catch up to IMO.
