Flipnote Studio 3D To Arrive In North America Later This Week

Nintendo of America has confirmed Flipnote Studio 3D will be available to download later this week. The 3DS app, which allows users to create three-dimensional animations and exchange them with friends, will be offered as a free download to all Club Nintendo members following its discontinuation. According to Nintendo’s US rewards catalogue page, the app will arrive in North America some time this week, with users recommended to check their “to-do” list on the site. A date has not yet been specified.

Earlier today, the US Club Nintendo site updated with a vast selection of digital games and physical goodies. Currently, the website is experiencing a high influx of traffic and is unavailable. You can check out a rundown of the physical items in our previous article, which included a Zelda: Majora’s Mask messenger bag, in the mean time. Flipnote Studio 3D will be offered as a free download to those in Europe when the new rewards scheme opens later this year.

“For Flipnote Studio 3D, please check your To-Do list to receive your download code later this week.”

  1. I don’t even plan on using it and I’m fucking downloading it. This is what happens when you are made to wait for so long: you jump on the first opportunity.

      1. Hey, it’s free, right? So why not?

Better than not getting it and experiencing buyer’s remorse later… or something similar since it’s free and you’re not really “buying” it…

  2. For those that were constantly pestering Nintendo about Flipnote Studio 3D, can finally give it a rest. Nintendo probably had this planned in the first place…

  3. would have been nice for them to offer a free game to their dedicated wii u owners, not just the 3ds ones! thanks nintendo, even you shun your own console. -_-

  4. Fucking finally, But too late now. I don’t even have a 3ds anymore. Some crack head hotel house keeper stole it.

    1. Sorry to hear that. At least you got a good reason to buy a New 3DS, but honestly if I had to choose, the Wii U is much better than the 3DS overall.

    2. I already have wii u. Would only buy new 3ds for kid Icarus uprising (fucking love that game) and for mojara’s mask

  5. I remember when I was fourteen, I was super into this game. The years went by though and my interest is almost gone. But maybe it will spark again.

    1. A flipbook app that lets you draw and create animations. It’s pretty neat. Except I’ve never used it properly myself. I think you can also attach midi files to them for sounds effects

    2. A very simple animation app for the DSi. It allowed for two colors on a page, two layers to draw on, 10 pens, 10 erasers, 10 paintbrushes, and very light select-edit tools, along with allowing only one minute of audio, that had to be recorded on the DSi. It had an online service ran by Hatena Co. called Flipnote Hatena, and despite its harsh limitations, people (myself included) loved the crap out if it.

Flipnote 3D is significantly better in just about every way, adding 4 more colors, more pens, erasers, and paintbrushes, allowing 3 layers instead of two, two colors per layer, more select-edit options, and animating in full stereoscopic 3D.

  6. God I hope this comes sooner than the END of the week XD but I heard that flipnote gallery friends wasn’t gonna be on this…
