  1. Only way im getting this game is if I can convince my friends to bring their wiius over to play online in the same room.

Nintendo is afraid of people just winning non stop I guess only reason not to include in game voice chat because strategy.

      1. Good point. Lack of customization for matches is almost as bad as no voice chat. Glad someone pointed that out.

        1. how are you supposed to choose your respawn point without the map on the touchscreen? that´s why the gamepad is important

      2. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Yes. The lack of customizations is far worse than the lack of voice chat! As Jaded said, thank you so much for pointing out that other glaring flaw with Splatoon. It’s Smash 4’s online all over again where we are forced to only fight for 2 fucking minutes. Where’s the fucking fun in that, hm? When it finally starts to get fun, oops! Time’s up!

    1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

      >>>In other words, you’re a disgusting civilian that shouldn’t touch games that are over your league>>>

    2. The voice chat comments are ridiculous for multiple reasons..

1: The quality is terrible, have you tried it? It’s available on Mario Kart 8. Go ahead.

2: For a 60 fps game, every drop in framerate is important, and while Smash is definitely a

3: Above all, the game is marketed to children. The commercials should have given that away. Not enough children have the Wii U, and they should be the easiest to sell to when the competition is higher priced and do not feature have as many kid-friendly titles. Games like CoD, obviously, are not; and even if children do buy those games, they are not the target audiences. Voice chat is a no go and Nintendo made the right business decision.

      4. The game is not that complex, and the map’s not that large. The main purpose of voice chat would be to strategize how to move around and control the map, but these details are readily available on the Gamepad which shows a live feed of the map, its ink layout, and everyone’s movements, and a quick button press triggers the usual “come here!” notification from allies.

      5. You’re not going to convince anyone that the friends you plan to play with online, for that one mode, aren’t available through any other service, e.g., Skype, your phones, Steam, etc. Those services will give you higher quality, will be customized by you, and won’t affect the quality of the gameplay (lag, framerate).

      1. 1. Nintendo could make a quality headset if they wanted to.

        2. If Nintendo can’t make a game with voice chat without framerate dropping then that is all on Nintendo and they should go back to the lab and try to improve.

        3. Just because it is market to kids don’t mean it should not have voice chat just a real good prenatal control.

        4. Voice chat is not need but there should be some way to tell allies where the enemy(specially Rollers) is.

        5. Back to number 2 and also we should not have to go to another service for voice chat.

      2. Not sure how calling Nintendo out on being terribly inept at executing online features (poor quality VC in MK) and telling us we need to use our phones and computers because our WiiU wasn’t designed for a social gameplay experience is defending them…you’re kinda making our point.

        1. Bitching over lack of voice chat if you know the console can’t support 60 fps and quality voice chat simultaneously is absolutely pointless. The game quality loss to gain some sort if horrendous voice chat doesn’t make any kind of sense, besides all the other completely obvious reasons why is isn’t happening. Your argument is invalid. Get Skype or gtfo.

          1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

*facepalm* The Nintensheep is written all over this comment. “Get Skype or gtfo.” Just goes to show you that 3rd parties aren’t the only ones with idiots amongst their fanbase.

      3. You are over thinking it, VC is just a simple feature with hardly any “Business decisions” behind it… It’s simple freedom of speech.
And is the mic on the gamepad just a decoration or a feature? Sure it’s not good quality but it’s the 8th damn generation, VC should be in games by now.
And VC doesnt even slow down gameplay that drastically, considering online play doesn’t give the full FPS quality. On the other hand, media web sites will slow down gameplay because you are using a different device/site on the same signal causing more bandwidth usage compared to having VC in-game. We shouldn’t have to be ghetto and use other sites anyways, it should just be a normal feature in a game.

And one thing ANIT-VOICECHAT people ignore is that VC is optional. TURN IT OFF. MUTE PEOPLE. DEACTIVATE IT. It’s not that hard.
It can also be easily moderated. REPORT A PLAYER. HAVE BEHAVIOR STATS. PLAYERS CAN BE BANNED BY MODS/BOTS. It isn’t impossible.

It’s the 8th generation, we should have this simple feature by now.

  2. Was kinda hoping they’d have a Firing Rate Boost as a gear ability since I plan on using the .52 Gal… Oh well. I might just plan on getting some gear that has the Ink Saver or something.

  3. Hey guys, look! A gallery of all the abilities and whatnot. Eh, actually, lets whine about the voice chat some more!

That was SO much fun in the other 5 Splatoon threads THIS WEEK.

      1. What about that spike head guy? Can’t he unlock more abilities you might be missing? Or is that weapons only?
