Splatoon Global Testfire Event To Return For One More Round

The free Splatoon Global Testfire demo event is back for an encore! Whether you missed the first round or simply want to whet your tentacles again, join your fellow Inklings around the world on Sunday 24th May at 00.00 CEST (Saturday 23rd May at 23.00 BST), as you head online for some ink-spraying, turf-claiming action, ahead of the launch of Splatoon on 29th May.

If this is the first time you are participating in the Global Testfire event then you will need to head over to the Nintendo eShop for Wii U from 16:00 CEST today and download the free demo. This demo will then go live for 1-hour on Sunday 24th May: 00:00 CEST allowing you to enjoy 4-on-4 online Turf War battles against others around the world using the same weapons as the previous Global Testfire event.

All players who have downloaded the demo during the first round or this final round can also claim a 10% discount off the price of Splatoon on Nintendo eShop, with the offer starting on 29th May and lasting until 4th June.

Splatoon is a wild new game from Nintendo that combines the creative and family-friendly fun Nintendo is known for with ink-spraying, turf-claiming action. Just like Mario Kart changed the way family and friends play racing games together, Splatoon welcomes players of all ages and skill levels to the world of the action shooter.

In the game, players take on the role of the Inklings, customisable characters that can transform into squids at the touch of a button. After splatting opponents and covering a level with colourful ink, players can transform into squids and swim quickly through their own ink or use it to take cover and hide from enemies.

  1. Jesus would someone please translate that into Central Standard Time for me? Or all time zones if you’re kind enough.

Also, is that discount only for U.K. players? I hope the fuck not.

  2. My gamepad charger broke, so unless I can fix it, or get a new one I’m gonna miss this. “Sigh” well at least I played all the others and have preordered this game.

      1. They sell the real ones that come with the Wii U for 19$ on the official Nintendo store. They are way better quality, and are only about 5-7 dollars more. There hard to find on the website though, you have to search under Wii U and the go to the left side of the screen and pick adapters and chargers.

    1. And that’s why opting out the Pro Controller option for the game is yet another “BRILLIANT” dick move since no voice chat for friends only which I bet if it was there, it’s only for a few seconds during lobbies.

If I were you, I would rather stick with Black Ops 2 on Wii U.

      1. I couldn’t care less on people’s taste in games, by all means play COD if it’s fun for you. However, when I read…

“I would rather stick with Black Ops 2 on Wii U”

        over splatoon? HELLZ NAAAAH
someone didn’t play the demo :]

          1. That’s perfectly fine too! I’d give the demo one last go just in case you change your mind. If you don’t like it, well then bollocks to it! Send it to oblivion or do whatever the commander does these days to games he doesn’t like.

            1. I can’t connect to the damn thing so I stopped trying and I’m not going for it again just so it’ll repeat itself.

But no Pro Controller, no customization in some areas and NO VOICE CHAT, I’m not buying until they update the game for those features. Then maybe I’ll give it a shot. Not saying the game itself sucks, I wanted this but having no options for games like this is a butch and I’m not gonna look like some hypocrite fool buying a game when Nintendo clearly gimps it without saying a word but more than likely do it when third parties does it to their Wii U ports.

              1. I’ve told some others this but check out the end of the Direct, like twenty minutes before it ends, where they announce more options and future updates.

                1. Like what? More multicolored slime like what Nickelodeon would do? Or maybe a Mario+FLUDD or Shadow Mario+Paintbrush DLC that’s never going to happen? Or MAYBE Nintendo will finally update that highly demanded voice chat feature…but many will learn it’s the same FUCKED UP LOBBY-RESTRICTED CHAT from MK8 that’ll last less than a minute.

Yeah. I’m SO excited for that shit. :/

                  1. It’s none of that. Actually the paint brush they have shown won’t be available from the start. It’s mostly customization options, several new stages, other modes you’ll be able to play like ranked battles, and how playing with friends works.

          2. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

            >>>And yet I had no issues AT ALL regarding your 2 reasons so yes go back into playing whatever Black Tops 2 is>>>

    1. Stress testing the servers is a reason for this, I hear. Seeing how well their servers can handle it when a bunch of people are trying to get on it. After the first Testfire, there’s likely going to be a lot of people coming back for more rather than mostly people who are trying it for the first time. And since it’s just that one occasion rather than people having 3 opportunities like last time, that server is going to be experiencing a LOT of traffic, I would think.

It also helps to leave the audience wanting more, since it can help generate excitement and anticipation for the game’s release. The initial Testfire was also in short 1-hour bursts but it left most of its players wanting to buy the game, leading to physical pre-orders and digital pre-purchasing.

    1. And adding Pro Controller, Wii Classic, Wii Remote and GameCube!…Oops. No they didn’t. They’re yet again forcing the fucking Gamepad on many who don’t want to play it for shooters. I mean, why not Wii Remote when it’s practical and fitting for games like Splatoon? Hell, Pro Controller is the ultimatum of Wii U players. WTF even uses the Gamepad anymore? Not me.

      1. I use it plenty actually.. Lately I have swapped to the pro cause the right thumb stick got stuck in at a party…I’m so used to the game pad in the games I have finished(batman, AC4) and still working on (Dues Ex) that not playing with the pad really changed my exp….even if it’s just a map…it’s unbelievably how much that seamlessness helps…that said after the first test fire I sent it for repairs…I did fine, I’ve always been fine with motion control, and I feel like splatoon a works great…and before anyone complains to much…my four year old girl avg. 2 kills and 4 deaths with 600 points or so… We loved it

      1. That’s what happened….it was dropped….or really not put up and my one year old found it…it’s frustrating cause we have pulled wii’s off of mantels…tipped over the wii u…and just righted it and kept on playing….you turn a 360 on it’s side while it’s one and you ruin a disk and the dang thing sounds like it will explode…that said the drop was only like 2 feet it must have landed just right….took me so long to fix it cause it was good for most my games…anything that needed aim or camera control with it…it made it unplayable

  3. And I still won’t be able to connect so I’m not falling for it the second time and no Pro controller option while Gamepad use is more forced?! WTF Nintendo? You fucked it up.

  4. So my 8yr old has to stay upto midnight (with school the next day) to play an hour?
Thought Nintendo was the family friendly company. More like just UK unfriendly.

  5. So, that last demo was just a limited time thing? That would explain why I was unable to find the demo when I attempted it.
